problems launching IE

When I go to launch IE, I get the message "tab recovered" followed by "IE has encountered a problem and needs to close" and it goes on in a circle until I shut it all down.

No pages are opened apart from a web error message.

It has been fine for a few years until yesterday. Any ideas whats causing this and the solution?

Thanks

if you are not worried about losing favourites or cookies you could re-install ie

or you can copy your favorites to back them up before you
the favorites directory is C:\Users\*username*\Favorites just copy all that to another folder to back up.

then (in vista and windows 7) click 'start' and type 'internet options' and select 'internet options' click the tab called 'advanced' and then choose 'reset internet explorer settings'

that should get it back working.

then consider using a different browser such as firefox or chrome

I have had exactly the same problem, same messages.

Have you actually tried to remove IE, especially if you try and re-install IE8 which seems more stable than IE9? Blooming impossible..

Using Google Chrome at the moment just to get on line. What a crock of s**t....

It seems like the website the recovered tab is opening is crashing your IE. You should try not to open that website.

    UPDATE

I found using Google Chrome to be right pain in the posterior. Looked into my IE problem. I have downloaded a programme from the Microsoft website called EMET(?).

I needed to uninstall my existing IE, but now I can use it again....:T

Just go to the MS website, look for IE problems and follow the simple instructions

Everybody seems to be pushing Firefox. Haven't got a problem with that.

What happens when a link wants to open in IE though?

Excuse my ignorance, but earlier on I wanted to download some audio files from a site for my grandsons Leapfrog Tag pen. Even though I went through Google Chrome it kept giving me an error because it kept trying to open an IE window, but wouldn't because IE wouldn't open correctly(fixed now though).

If I used Firefox would the file I was looking for open in Firefox ok, or would I still have had a problem because of IE?
