Do you have breakdown cover? If so, you could try them. Mind you, there are so many callouts in this weather that they may take a few hours to get to you anyway....

And it depends if you have "Home" cover ?

OP, I do hope you get it sorted - it is very annoying ( I did it a few years back with a Passat - managed to shut the boot with the keys in there and it autlocked )

  • Its all sorted now. He followed the suggestion we had to remove the wee back window seal with a stanley knife, levered it out from the clips with a screwdriver and its now back on, siliconed into place with window silicone, and the strip back on. Did have a hairy moment trying to open the doors, it wouldn't let us open them from inside, so had to reach the window buttons with a brolly to put the front window odown and take the keys out! :rotfl: Looks almost but not quite as good as new. :) Thanks for your help, hope I've given you a laugh. :D

Smash a window- choose the easiest to replace, drivers or passenger maybe rather than fixed- and head down to a scrapyard. Then remember to wind your windows down when the engine-s running, or leave a door open- cold can make the locks play up badly!

Sorry, didn't see final post above- screen needed refreshed.

Well done OP - think of it as a learning exercise :T:T

  • No, OP's husband better think of it as a learning exercise. He's usually a very cautious person, and calls me the scatterbrain :rotfl: This is also the man who put £60 worth of petrol into our other, diesel car! I may try and dissuade him from driving any more after this!

Tried that rob, they just laughed. OK I talked him into taking off the outside rubber seal with a stanley knife. Just need to figure out how to get the metal clips off. It has stalled now, too. :)

    Seriously?
You think every random passing kid is eqipped to break into a car?

You need a spare key cut, even just a cheap blade without the electronics so at least you can open the door from now on.

You might also want to point out to him that its an offence to leave a motor vehicle running without a driver present. I think is called something as simple as 'leaving a motor vehicle unattended'.

Also around the midlands they had over 50 cars nicked in a week were people had done this and your insurance does not cover you.

Get a spare key, even if it's only a blind key.

Judging by the op's username and location then yes :D (but only those over the age of 8)
