oh and also should be getting some money in the next few months from a car insurance claim. hope to pay OH cc's off of about £1500 which will reduce my monthly expenditure by £45.0

Your mobile phone bill is shockingly high - is there nothing you can do about that sooner? Have you tried calling your provider and explaining your situation?
You could also cut your grocery bill - OH and I manage comfortably on £150 a month.
Well done for dealing with it.0 -
Is your car insurance really £100 per month?

Guna call orange 2moz! Try and get it down a bit but I think you can only go down £5 per month. Me and OH are only 22 so car insurance really is about £1300 a yr. My mum laid out for it and I haven't paid her for bout 4 months but I owe it her.
I have to start the new year on the right foot and get my spending in order. Makes me feel sick we can't afford to live. Yes we need car as OH goes to Uni 9-5 then work 6-10 he would not be able to do it in time without the car! I do want to get rid and maybe he can get a moped but he's not keen.0 -
Guna tryand get groceris down to £150 but our main problem is that he gets paid cash weekly0
-
If you find you spend the cash just because it's there, bank it the day he's paid. Or is the problem that he gets paid weekly? Because that shouldn't really be a problem - just work your budget out weekly and see how much you need to hold back each week to pay for the monthly bills.0
-
Yeh just I'm terrible with money and cash weekly doesn't help. Guna ask boss if he can get paid monthly. Much easier to budget that way!0
-
Please stop typing guna for I'm going to.0

Sorry on phone it's quicker0

Meanwhile.
Mobile phones = ludicrous. You don't just need to go to, say, PAYG but you need to seriously rethink your usage.
What sort of car costs £1200 a year to insure yet you only do about 6000 miles a year.
I suspect there is quite a lot of small scale, incidental expenditure that you haven't recorded that would be highlighted by a spending diary.0
