A friend was relying on me to burn a dvd of a home movie he made as a present for another friend of ours. Being the lazy so and so I am, I forgot all about it until sunday night, and only got round to putting in the post up here in Belfast yesterday at 4.
Lo and behold, our regular postie dropped it in through my mate's door (back home, 60 icy, treacherous, miles away) this morning.
And furthermore, I couldnt find a proper case for it in the rush to get it posted, so ended up wrapping some toilet tissue around it and scribbling fragile on the front, and it reached him in perfect condition.
Pretty good for 41p!
(related note, are they delivering on friday? heading home on thursday night and want to tip our postie)

I am a supporter of having a service such as that offered by Royal Mail. Long distance delivery charges are extremely inexpensive.
However , for the first time I confess that I delivered my local Christmas cards using my car and saved a not inconsiderable amount of money. Plus I know that the intended recipients actually got them.Forgotten but not gone.0 -
I have to agree with the OP.... I sent a package to Yorkshire from Kent on Tuesday. I was offered Special Delivery (although they would not guarantee when it would be delivered) for an extra £5.00, and I said that since it might be late anyway I would go with plain old 1st class post for a little over £2.00.
I got a text message on Wednesday from my friend, thanking me for the lovely gift which had been delivered that morning. Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....

Are you aware that there has been a little bit of snow about?
The couriers have been struggling even more than Royal Mail, with one or two of them passing large quantities of their parcels, which they had been contracted to deliver, to Royal Mail for delivery.
This puts even more burden on Royal Mail at the busiest time of the year
Merry ChristmasGoing down the Oteley Road to see the Shrewsbury aces! :T0 -

I have been incredibly impressed with both Royal Mail and whatever courier companies that the places I've ordered from this Christmas have been using.
Every one of my items has been received in incredibly good time, especially bearing in mind the recent bad weather conditions - even those that were ordered last minute without any expectations of receiving them before the New Year, have been received. And everything in perfect condition.
So often we are quick to jump online in frustration and moan and grumble about perceived poor service from these providers, that I'm very pleased to be able to offer some praise.0 -
I am not impressed.
Friday 10th December posted large letter at my local PO, (about half a mile away), by First Class Recorded Delivery, addressee is about half a mile away from PO, (i.e about a mile from my house), and the delivery/sorting office is about 2 miles away.
As of today, (16 days later), the tracking site is still saying, "Item **457908***GB was posted at 592 Blackpool Ro PR2 1JA on 10/12/10 and is being progressed through our network for delivery."
We had no snow around here until Friday 17th, so that cannot be an issue.
Last posting date for Christmas was 21st for first class, so I was well in time.
I could have hand delivered, but needed proof of delivery, hence RD.
RM? pure Cr*p
I was told on Friday, (14 days after posting), by CS that nothing can be done until the letter has still not been delivered until 15 WORKING days have elapsed!
So looks like the letter is lost, anyone know what I can claim, as there are photos in the letter that will need reprinting?
