Ocado Delivery Pass - What's the catch

Options
Looking at Delivery Pass (the scheme where you join a prepayment scheme and pay no charge for individual deliveries). The options are:

Annual £69.99
Monthly £3.99 / month

??? Why would you join the Annual and pay £22 more!

I thought perhaps the Monthly would go back to £10/month and you'd end up paying more. But Section 2.8 of their terms and conditions states that they will not increase the fee during the minimum term (which is 12 months for monthly) and then you get 28 days (the time needed to cancel).

Anyone spot any downside (assuming £4/month is a saving - at the moment I've been getting 15% of £75 shopping once a month and only paying £0-1.50 for delivery), but that won't continue forever.

Unfortunately only those who have joined the site can see that page. The rest of us are just presented with a log in page.
  • The link you've posted also says £39.99. Maybe its different prices in different areas? Or maybe mines a promotional rate because i'm a new customer?

  • Ocado Delivery Pass - What's the catch

Regardless of the delivery charge, the "catch" of paying it is you have paid the delivery charge for a year, so why would you shop online at Tesco or ASDA when you have already paid another site to deliver it.

I'm a new customer too, I've never shopped with Ocado.

Either way, both links give me a price of £69.99 or £6.99 monthly.

    Same prices here...

I have my first Ocado delivery this morning between 7am and 8am so will see what that is like and then might be tempted to sign up for the yearly one...as I have weekly/fortnightly deliveries currently from Tesco (sometimes Asda) but this could work out cheaper from a delivery point plus I didn't find their products that expensive vs Tesco. (actually had good offer on Whiskas etc)

I paid £59.99 for a year in February. I order at least 3 times a month with Ocado, so this represents a good enough saving on the 'expensive' delivery slots. The 'full' price according to my membership page is £109.99!
  • So it looks like the price is variable. I'm getting £70 or £4/month, others are getting £40 and £4 and some £70 and £7. I could understand different prices for different regions but not different in favour of monthly over annual.

Still trying to decide. Currently I get the late night delivery once a month for £1.99 or less. But it's actually a bit inconvenient and I could split the £80 /month into two £40/month and have them delivered on a Friday afternoon.
