Bluntly, you borrowed money you did not pay back as you agreed, in writing, that you would do.
I am not saying that harrassment is warrented just that if the agreement made was kept, nothing would have happened.DO NOT BORROW MONEY FROM PEOPLE AND THEN NOT PAY THEM BACK. IT IS DISHONEST.This country is turning into a place where nobody wants to take responsibility for their own actions.
I would be P'ed off if I lent you money and you didn't pay me back - life ain't a charity!
You have rights, of course you do. The lender has the right to expect you to do what you said you would do as well. That's what grown ups do - keep their word.Sorry but the truth hurts.Midget. (Nowt to do with Cheque Centre)
She is trying to pay the money back and not trying to get out of it. The Cheque Centre appear to be unreasonable.

As expected!
My non judgemental advice is pay back the money that was lent to you in good faith.
Seems weird also that the OP can suddenly make payments when ordered to by a court but not before......

hi we are in the same situation with the cheque centre and owe £1500 between me and my wife got into finance difficulties and have gone on a debt mamagement with kensington finance.we live in liverpool and calls are nasty to my wife threatening to contact employer with possible loss of job they say it says in section 5 of contract that they can.we are in £26000 debt and only option was debt management.as with lots of people when signing payday loan you never look at small print so we dont know if its true.they say they are going to decline debt management offer and take us to court as well .my wife is in her 4th year of breast cancer and dont need the nasty calls .we contacted financial ombudsman and they said they are sending letter to them but are not aware of their contract rules.cheque centre a very clever and your payday loan always goes up every month any ideas please ......tony0

Tony,
are you a homeowner? - If not, very worst case you go bankrupt and they get nada. Try to speak to one of the debt charities - CCCS are a good one for expert advice on you situation.0 -
hi thankyou im now on a debt management but cheque centre says they are declining it but im not worried because cant have what ive not got they love to threaten via phone calls and they do everytime wife as been so upset so she hangs up on them every call now.please aware people not to use this company they love taking your money but if you get into problems paying back they become bullys without us they would not exist which is surely a good thing.they pray on the vunrable...........0

Hi
Write to them and demand that they remove the phone numbers from their records. I suggest two letters sent from two post offices with certificate of posting. That means that the courts accept that one letter has arrived.
If they then contact you again write and advise them that you are reporting them to the Information Commisioner for holding information despite your demand it be removed from your record. They will jump.If you've have not made a mistake, you've made nothing0 -
This thread makes very disturbing reading and should serve as a warning to anyone even considering any of these companies offering this type of finance - Cheque Centre, Payday Loans, Wonga.com etc etc. Whilst purporting to offer short term loans ie one month max, it is obvious they are looking for people needing small amounts (<£1,000) who are unlikely to repay within those 30 day, thereby enabling themselves to reap the major rewards!
Might I ask posters to reveal how much they originally borrowed and then tell us how much they eventually ended up repaying?0
