New here so hello to all,
I had a 36mnt contract with a security firm for monitoring and service of security system, this expired 8 monyhs ago but I forgot to cancel DD.
As soon as I noticed I did.
They never contacted me with a renewal offer and nowhere in the contract does it say that it will roll over after the 36 months.
Contacted them but theey say it automaticly goes on on a evergreen basis and they will not refund the 8 months of payments.
Could you advice me on what to do next or if I have any rights in this.
Many thanks Sam

I would check the original terms, but I doubt that youbwould get a refund
Oh, and welcome ton the forum0 -
thank you, there is no mention in the small prints0

Irrelevant I would suggest. If you didnt contact them to cancel I'd expect them to continue billing and providing the service unless the service was fixed term.0

even is you have a contract for 36mnts only? why would I have to cancel, it expires after 36mths0

If the contract clearly states the service expires after 36 months you might be correct but I would suggest you paying them and the continuing to provide a service constitutes an ongoing contract.0 -
Yes it does say that and signed by both parties0

You need to see a solicitor with a copy of your contact to find out if what they've done is wrong.0

OP, can you see the other side to this?
Thirty six months pass and you do nothing.
No more payments taken.
In the thirty seventh month you are burgled and the alarm doesn't function.
You contact the alarm company who say the contract finished at 36 mths.
You say "but I didn't cancel".
Think about mobile phone contracts.
They usually have a minimum term, say 24 mths, but continue forever if not specifically cancelled.
Maybe your alarm contract was for a minimum term of 36 mths, and thence continues ad infinitum.
OP, please check your contract carefully.0 -
Yes I can see that but why sign a 36mnth contract at all, why not sign on a monthly base and then both parties know were they stand. imo thet could have send a renewal out after the original period ended. for example that's what car insurers do and they provide a service ia a way0
