Thanks, everyone. Useful discussion.
It appears that its pretty easy, The hotel had my tel number postcode as part of the booking I assume.
Whilst appears that Natwest/Mastercard are pretty uninterested after speaking to them I have complained to the Hotel who are investigating. I'm not expecting much back which is why professional help or advice is most welcome.0 -
Different providers use different authentication procedured for VbV.
The Co-op/smile require 3 digits from your memorable name, which is one of the ID questions used for internet banking.
Never had to try it but I can't believe that would be as easy to change as suggested above.Ethical moneysaver0 -

Yes, you're right. I was just lying in my post above, just for the fun of it...
Honestly, it was that easy. I'm not lying, I have no need to lie, and at least one other poster confirmed that they had to do the same. That might not be your personal experience, but please don't assume that everyone else is just talking out of their backsides! I've got nothing to gain by saying it!
I have to input three letters from my memorable word to make a payment. But if I can't remember them and just click 'forgotten security details', I'm asked to re-enter my card details and choose a new security word. That's it. So the three security detail letters required to make a payment are really pointless.
Clearly my providers don't care as much about security as yours - but please don't suggest that what I'm saying isn't true. It is.
KiKi' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".0
