I think giving it to any friend with 'basic common sense and the ability to use google' is usually sufficient to ensure a much more competent diagnosis and repair than the Curries/PC world monkeys are capable of.....

Chances are, they just formatted the existing hard drive and charged you for a replacement. The monkeys at currys/pc world are notorious for fake repairs and hideous overcharging.poppy100
