What a silly billy.Politics is not the art of the possible. It consists of choosing between the disastrous and the unpalatable. J. K. Galbraith0

Dunno about that, he is in a marginal seat, and there is no real prospect of him being reelected next election, so he has been in government long enough to get the ministerial pension, and now is making himself as famous as possible.
Now he is the most senior Lin Dem MP outside the government, he can make a lot of press for himself by being part of the awkward squad.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

Excellent news if he does go.
The man has clearly lost the plot.“The great enemy of the truth is very often not the lie – deliberate, contrived, and dishonest – but the myth, persistent, persuasive, and unrealistic.
Belief in myths allows the comfort of opinion without the discomfort of thought.”

Sometimes they say some people can be all brains and no common sence.
I've not followed it too closely but the situation regarding student fees seems to have spectactularly backfired.
How can you propose a change and then wish to abstain from voting on it?:wall:
What we've got here is....... failure to communicate.
Some men you just can't reach.

As he's always been renowned for plain speaking (whether or not one agrees with what's said) then were this still a Labour administration, Vince Cable would surely be calling on the Business Secretary to do the honourable thing and resign from ministerial office.
Private thoughts are one thing, public utterances another. As for the Telegraph's role, Vince Cable could equally as well have been speaking to some "genuine" constituents who then rushed off to plaster his comments all over the 'Net.
The biggest irony is that the man's loathing of Murdoch and The Evil Empire is shared by all good Socialists everywhere. They're now the very people to take most delight in his self-inflicted misfortune.0
