virgin flight cancelled..stuck in lax , what now

hey all , asking for a friend here

he's got a email saying his flight for today is canceled , cant get though on the phones at all

whats the procedure to ensure he gets rebooked onto the next flights etc?

is it worth keeping receipts incase anything is covered?

If he wants to cancel, he can process a refund on the Virgin Atlantic website. If he wants to rebook, he needs to speak to Virgin. All he can do is to keep calling. Sorry, that's all he can do. Keep fingers crossed for a spare seat in the near future.

yeah he mentioned a refund was avail , i said thats probably not a good idea as theres little chance of booking anything else anytime soon thats cheap

First of all you need to ask him this: Did he book through Virgin Atlantic directly? Or did he book through an agent, for example Expedia/Ebookers/Opodo/Virgin Holidays etc?

If he booked through an agent, they are his first call of port. Do not try contacting VS directly.. it'll be a waste of time.

There is not an awful lot you're going to be able to do.. so tell him to sit back, take it easy and enjoy his few extra days in LAX. There are worse places to be when you can't do anything about it. :P

right just to update incase it helps anyone else

he got through on the phone , they arranged 24th out of las vegas with delta airlines , they will cover a 3 star hotel and reasonble meals , he choose to drive to vegas rather than wait longer
