Was thinking of you over chrimbo Sim, hope your ok. Its a difficult time for all of us with a drink 'thing'.

    Hiya,

Am ok thanks, other than still getting over an awful lurgy!

Hope your Christmas was relaxing and not too tough.

Regarding the PayDay loan, I decided to bite the bullet and let MoneyShop cash the cheques, even though I was already o/d with the bank. My first cheque has now gone through (was presented by PayDay loan company on Wednesday 22nd December, and went through yesterday)...

So, that's £100 down and £400 to go.

I didn't cancel my card, as I'd rather get shot of the PayDay loan people, and have the debt transferred across to my bank (Santander), and then deal with it accordingly (probably to be included in a Debt Relief Order in Jan).

Second cheque of £100 was due to be presented yesterday, and so will probably go through next week now. Third and fourth cheques are going through today and tomorrow, and the fifth cheque will go through on the 4th Jan.

I just hope Santander (previously A&L) honour *all* of the cheques, and I don't end up owing them both money :o

    Cheers,

    Sim.
  • PS - I made sure I contacted my Payroll dpt at work last week, to change my bank details.

My wages as of tomorrow are now heading to my new / old basic Bank of Scotland bank account instead of Santander, so they're not eaten up and I then have some breathing space.

Still need to deal with the debt, but at least I can then take stock and plan my next move.
  • PPS - I did read a few days ago, that BoS are connected with the Santander group.. :-/

    Is this right?

I have a basic Co - op account too, but was in two minds as to whether or not to use this, as I think MoneyShop had my Co - op card details also.

Am considering opening a Barclays basic Cash Card Account later on today, but as I'm going for a DRO in Jan would I be better waiting until after the DRO?

    Thanks,

    Sim.

Don't panic. BoS is firmly within the Lloyds Banking Group (Halifax, BoS, Lloyds TSB etc)

    Thanks.

You've just reminded me though.. Isn't Lloyds TSB connected to Santander in some way?
  • PS - Update - Second cheque was due to go through last Wednesday; Third due yesterday; Fourth due today;

Obviously these won't show as to whether or not they've gone through on my account, until next week at the earliest.

Fifth cheque is then due on 4th Jan.

I just hope that Santander honours these cheques, like they did the first one last week, so I can then work on a DMP / DRO with CCCS in Jan.

Although worried, I'm starting to see things a bit more clearly now. I'm looking forward to a new way of life 'next year'!

    It certainly helps being sober.

    Happy New Year all,

    Sim x

Sim - I've not been on-line over Chrimbo, but today I logged on and thought about you! Great to see you have a plan and are feeling more positive.

Onward and upward 'pal', keep the faith

p.s. Lloyds is NOT connected to Santander as far as I know

And why don't you open another basic bank account with the Co-op (after telling them that your card for your exiting account has been STOLEN).

At least then you will have other options on bank accounts should you have memory loss in the future ;) (and do this sketch all over again to remind your self how you dislike phone calls, hassle etc.)

    Hi Sim

Did all your cheques go out? Have you spoken to Santan about this at all? They may be quite helpful if you approach them?
