If I were you I'd cancel the card/dd and also withdraw all your money on payday, go out at midnight if you have to. Then even if they try to get the money, it's not there for them. Then when you go for a DRO you can throw everything into it - so it doesn't matter if you get a few charges for bouncing payments.

    Thanks Ames.

I was going to cancel my Santander debit card, but I thought that it's better not to and to just let the cheques go through.

They'd probably go through anyway (as they were guaranteed by a CGC) and so I'd rather owe the bank money than the MoneyShop.

The point is though that once you've defaulted you can set up a payment plan with reduced/frozen interest. A lot of people have found on here that once they've got through the first lot of phonecalls etc, the payday companies have been ok to deal with, especially if you go on a DMP or have someone like CAB behind you.

    I really hope so :o
  • Sim,

I 'know' you from another board. That's a bit weird and stalker - esque! Just kidding :) I hope that you can get things sorted this time.So do I, and as scared as I am, I will.

I am a bit confused about your water bill, you have put £30.28 as expenditure and then the same again in arrears column. I assume your current usage is quite low but you are having to pay extra to clear the arrears?Yes. My water payments were £8.32 a week. I'm about 4 weeks payments in arrears I think.

What do you think has caused your debt this time around? I recall you went bankrupt in 2003 and were discharged in 2005.How long have you got? I take responsibility for it. I f ucked up. Yes I did go Bankrupt back in 2003, and yes I was discharged in 2005. No, I'd rather not be in this position right now again, but I am where I am, and all I can do is keep going through it.

Some of your debts are to sub-prime lenders so I guess you couldn't get much credit...and?!

If alcohol is causing these debt problems then you need to go and get help again - are you still attending AA?I'm already getting help. With respect, a lot of what you're saying is stating the obvious and it's not very helpful. When someone screws up a second time, they don't need to be reminded that they've screwed up a second time!

If you apply for a DRO your Council Tax may not all get written off, it depends whether they have taken you to court. Thanks for the info. I'll check this with CCCS tomorrow on the phone.

Also TV Licence cannot be included as it means you were not covered and therefore are liable for a court fine. I assume you cannot afford the yearly amount - if this is the case you either need to go on Cash Easy Entry Scheme which is where you have a card and make payments each week at a Paypoint outlet or you could have monthly DD but this will be approx £29pm to start and then after 3mths reduces to £12.50pm (approx).Thanks. Good to know. You're right, in that this is a priority. Will call them tomorrow and sort.

Please get this sorted to prevent further problems like a court fine.

    EE

Thanks EE, but please don't go over the fact that I went BR 7 and a half years ago. I've already mentioned that on here before (not on this thread admittedly, but I have mentioned it). Regurgitating the past is unhelpful, but I'm assuming it was hopefully well meant.

    Cheers,

    Sim x

Your in that circle mate, sober, drunk, sober, drunk.

Its all well and good sorting your current debts out but until you address that alcohol issue you ain't ever going to move on.

PM if you want to. I have a feeling that the "issue" you mentioned before has become reality.

For what its worth, its a good plan for the initial debts.

    E2

Again, you're stating the obvious mate! Sorry, but people are reminding me exactly where I've screwed up but there you go.

    I know I've been in a circle.

Am at the end of my tether really.

Need to 'step away from the computer' and get ready for work.

You've a good point in that I need to address the alcoholism first. However, it isn't *just* booze. I've battled against anxiety and depression for years.

What "issue" are you on about?!

What's a good plan? The DRO?

Must dash for work. Will PM you later.

    Cheers,

    Sim.
  • have you thought about selling your tv and using internet services like i-player instead? You dont need a tv licence if you dont watch or record tv as its broadcast

I don't think the thought behind that was to make any money - just to *save* the licence fee...

    Yes I realise that!

But the hassle of shifting a ten year old telly a few days before Christmas is hardly worth it, when I can pay for my TV License next week is it?!

    Cheers,

As long as you can, obviously, that's fine :)

But if you decide not to pay it, you don't need to *shift* the old TV (though if you did there is bound to be someone on Freegle who'll be delighted to take it off you), you could just stop using it and go with the online non-live versions of programmes.

But that doesn't appear to be an issue if you sort the licence out.

    Season's wossnames :D
