PayDay Loan due Wednesday; In a mess;

    Hi,

do you know yet what happened with the cheque, did it go through?

Don't know yet. Not heard anything from the PayDay loan company, and it probably won't show either way on my online banking for a few days.

Am very stressed out about it, and whether or not the loan company / the bank will take me to Court (actually woke up yesterday morning, talking gibberish to myself.. :o) but I'm trying to take stock, accept that I'm responsible for f ucking up, accept that I can't (yet) afford to pay it back, and that I can work through it with time, if I concentrate on staying sober a day at a time.

I didn't want to stop the card, as I thought it'd at least be 'better' (for want of a better word) to owe the bank rather than the God - awful PayDay loan company.

Just praying that the bank let the cheques go through (*trying* to see it as a damage limitation exercise) and that I can then work something out with the bank / go for a DRO in January.

    Cheers,

    Sim.

As long as you can, obviously, that's fine :)

But if you decide not to pay it, you don't need to *shift* the old TV (though if you did there is bound to be someone on Freegle who'll be delighted to take it off you), you could just stop using it and go with the online non-live versions of programmes.

But that doesn't appear to be an issue if you sort the licence out.

    Season's wossnames :D

    Great advice! Cheers Mags_cat

Am going to phone TV Licensing tomorrow / today and see if they can set up a monthly DD as of next week when I can afford the first instalment.

9 / 10 I use iPlayer / DVD's anyway, but I realise I do need to sort the license out (have had 2 cards through the door / visits during the last month alone).

    Thanks again,

    Merry Christmas!

    G'night,

    Sim (trying to :))

Not 100% sure of the legal position, but I'd recommend not keeping TV receiving equipment in the house if you're getting rid of the licence because its gonna be really hard to prove you're not using it (I don't have a TV or licence, and yes I have had them come knocking on my door to check before now)

but yeah, its completely legal to have no tv licence and watch catchup on iplayer so long as you don't watch live tv :D
Only after the last tree has been cut down,
Only after the last river has been poisoned,
Only after the last fish has been caught,
Only then will you find that money cannot be eaten

If they come checking you do not have to let them into your premises without a warrant issued by a magistrate (who must have reasonable grounds to suspect you're committing an offence).

If you let them in and they see a TV that is not connected to an aerial that is not proof of "watching live TV without a licence".

I agree it takes some nerve to go through a check (and that's mainly because it's the *norm* to have a TV), but unless they see you watching live TV through the aerial without a valid licence they have very little to go on.
  • Was thinking of you over chrimbo Sim, hope your ok. Its a difficult time for all of us with a drink 'thing'.
