In the hope that someone else is up - I have just been awoken by my Carbon Monoxide Detector beeping intermittently (about every minute). I cannot find the manual to see what this means. It has a replacement date of August 2011. Do i need to panic?
think i just found answer on internet. 3 short beeps a minute = end of detector life. OK, now can go back to bed!!!!

Bat needs replacing if it's self contained one .
..if it mains wired ..they have a built in rechargeable battery ..that can wear out before its time ..internal rechargeable battery gone bad i think will mean whole new detector.
all the best.markj0 -
I had a 10 year smoke alarm (expired 2017). It has been beeping recently in the early hours as was my elderly neighbour's, who has a much colder house than me. The fire service who installed it said the cold affected the batteries and they mimic the effect of low power. However they took no chances and installeded new ones for myself and neighbour. You should take no chances either though.0

Do you have a plug in air freshener anywhere near it?
Mine started beeping and even kept on beeping out side so I emailed the manufacturer explaining what was going on.
I got a phone call the next day and the first thing she asked was did I have a plug in air freshener anywhere near it?
There was so she told me that they contaminated the sensor.
I removed the air freshener put the old battery back in and the CO alarm has behaved itself since.0 -
Go to the shop and get a new one rather than bacl to bed! Once you have a new one go back to bed and sleep happy!0

If this is the type of carbon monoxide detector you get from British gas (i.e. model no.SF350EN - can stand or be hung on a nail - squarish, but top is shorter than the base) you can quite easily change the battery as follows:
1-Drop down the front flap & you should see the battery cover labelled 'CAUTION'
2-turn the unit over and you will see a little hole in the bottom right hand corner,
3-put a scewer or anything else thin & pointy in the hole,
4-this will open the batter cover
5-change the batteries.
They won't last as long as 5 years but its cheaper than buying a new unit.0 -
Check out this manufactures link - it tells you what the beeps mean depending on how many there are per minute + how to deactivate the device to stop it beeping.
Looks like you may be able to send it back if its 'died' early before its replacement date, not sure though how that works / if they give you a replacement.
Website also says .... "The Statutory warranty period is 12-months from the date of sale. Therefore the customer is entitled to return the product to the place they purchased it during that period.
Honeywell Analytics take direct responsibility for the warranty period during years 2-5"
