Heating engineer question

I would have thought that anything that reduces flow significantly could give the same symptoms as a faulty pump. So, I suppose a blocked heat exchanger isn't impossible...0

Looks like this matter will progress further so being careful what I post, however update below.
Engineer trys new HE tells wife it wasnt that, turns out to be blocked bend just below boiler. Tells wife no charge for parts as not needed, only labour will be charged.
Next day i notice drip from bend and get him back out. Tells me he though was HE however was gunk in bend unsure what gunk was or how it got their.
Bill arrives and charged for HE + Labour, month of query being mismanaged by company and the engineer is still adamant to his company that he did fit new HE and today he has found my old HE in back of his van which they are willing to come out and fit.
Im not happy to allow them back into my home as I cant believe if he says the part is faulty why has he kept it for a month, how do I know its my actual part and WHY did he tell me and my wife on seperate days that no parts were used

An update
22/12/2010 - I spoke to the managing director of the company who said he would take his engineers side over a customers however would investigate and get back to me
02/03/2012 - A call from the company chasing the full bill
including HE. Had to explain te full story as best i could and they are going to get back to me, hopefully it wont take another 14 months lol0 -
if i had been called out to this my first thing would be to turn off the upstairs rads & see if downstairs rads worked, if they do then i would say it was either an air lock or the system wanted balancing ie the locksheilds on the upstairs rads were open too far, can't believe no one has said this, good term in the plumbing industry K.I.S.S. keep it simple stupidI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
