When you say wii game, do you mean console? or does she already have one and wants a game for it?

TBH at 6 mine wouldnt be getting any of the above...however xbox is quite advanced and the games cost a fortune... if you want to buy her 1 i would suggest the DS as she can take it on days out/grannies etc
  • in order of best to worse...

    1. xbox (Basic model from £150 up)
    2. Nitendo DS (DSi is better) don't really rate these... better for adults imo
    3. Basic mobile phone (my stepson's was £40 and is better than my blackberry!)
    4. Wii game!
  • tbh I wouldn't bother with a mobile phone, even a basic one, for a six year old....

Get the DS, plenty of reasonable ones on ebay now the DSi is out, and it has much more child friendly content than the xbox. And lets face it a 6 year old won't notice there is no box! The wii is quite child friendly too but you'll find the DS a godsend on long car journeys!

Must say I really don't understand the current mania for little kids and mobile phones. They don't need them, it's not like they go much further than the end of the garden on their own is it?! Not saying the OP is, the whole thing just makes me a bit

    2) Wii Console £140 upwards, games £18 upwards. 329845ps_79w112h.gif

    3) X Box £150 upwards 421090ps_79w112h.gif

    4) Mobile Phone - doesn't need one

Would I buy any of these for a 6 year no I think she is too young.
Everything has its beauty but not everyone sees it.
  • That would have been my list (or equivalent) when I was about 15! 6?!?
Current debt: M&S £0(£2K) , Tesco £0 (£1.5K), Car loan 6K (paid off!) Barclaycard £1.5K (interest free for 18 months)

i seem to have seen boys play games only on those and i would not like her wasting her time like that! or am i judging and do they actually learn something with it?
oh and forgot she wants another cat! or a dog - though not sure am ready for a dog yet!

  • I got my son a DS lite 2nd hand from Ebay for his 7th birthday - he really likes it, but sometimes needs some help with the games (Club Penguin etc) if there's a lot of reading needed.

My other half got a Wii for his birthday and the pair of them play lots of games together on it and especially recommend the Lego ones (Indiana Jones, Star Wars, Harry Potter)

We don't have an x-box and can't see him needing a mobile phone for a good few years yet.
  • At 6 probably a DS if she wants something to play by herself or a Wii if you all like to get involved.

In my opinion an xbox is a bit old but obviously I don't know how advanced her games skills are.

As for a mobile, do you have an old one you can put a pay as you go sim in for her?
This time I haven't smoked since 6th Jan 2014 and still going ok.
    Fingers crossed x
  • Why would a 6 year old need a mobile phone?? Even a 'basic' one?

That list is just madness for a 6 year old!
If you're intent on getting her something off her wishlist I'd go for the Nintendo DSi. More child friendly than the xbox and wii. Plus they do some good games someone of her age would be able to play as apposed to just pushing the buttons and not really getting anywhere.
