PAYG or Sim Only?

My wife's 12 month contract with O2 is due to expire in 3-4 weeks. At the moment, she is on a Sim Only deal, paying £10 per month for 600 mins and UL text. She got £50 cash back via Quidco, so deal only cost her £70 for 12 months. She is happy with her phone but if a deal with a new phone (folding/clam) was available, happy to change.

Her usage is 100 mins and NO text per month. Would she be advised to have another O2 deal, via Quidco = £70 per year or would a PAYG with Asda or Ikea be best?

Any suggestions/advice welcome.

Giffgaff is my recommendation. They are a payg operator running on the o2 network. They have cheap standard charges(8p per min calls, free internet until Feb 28th) or you can get monthly add ons= for £10 you get 150 mins/utd texts/utd internet(on promotion until march you get 250 mins instead of the 150.
You would not have to unlock phone phone as it is on o2 network.Giffgaff only do sim only payg service. They do not provide phones.

Thank you both for the replies! My wife has had 3 missed calls from O2 in past 7 days. Bet it is to do with renewing contract. Will wait until we hear what O2 have to offer.

100 minutes a month and nothing else?

    Three options spring to mind

A Talk Mobile SIM only on SIMpletalker for £5/month
    (100 mins, 100 texts and 100 MB)
Drawback: 30p/minute calls if the bundle runs out.
    https://www.quidco.com/talkmobile - £5 cashback

    Orange PAYG on Canary
When you top up with £10 you get 100 free evening/weekend minutes
    PLUS
You can buy a 100-minute bundle for £5 which lasts for a month (any minutes after this are 5p each)

You may get away with only topping up every other month this way (£60 per year).

    T-mobile SIM only via chitterchatter - £6 a month
100 minutes and booster of unlimited landline calls

That is a good price for a 100 minute add on!

Stuart, thanks for your input! Chitterchater looks ideal.

Neil, which provider is your tip for? Thanks

As long as you really know the maximum allowances that you will not go over, I think pay as you go is better, because even if you dont use up everything, you're left with credit, rather than nothing!
