  • Wow - your post had me in tears! I go through the same sort of emotions as you although I have never been bankrupt, we starting taking action before anything like that needed to happen. Can not imagine what it is like but god damn have you bounced back!

*Subscribes* Definitely going to keep my eye on your diary - an inspiration to say the least.

As a mother I can catagorically say that you are the most rich person in the world. You have 2 beautiful daughters and a husband. You have stayed together through such a tough time. Only positive things ahead and it may only be baby steps but remember where baby steps got you before...I am sure at least your eldest daughter can prove what little steps achieve :)

    Well Done!!:T:T

    Heres to your journey...
    Debt August 2009 - £30,525.50
    Debt Paid February 2011

Another one popped out of the woodwork...time to work hard again!

I've just read an email from 3Dogs, she's and aureol are helping some of us on 3Dogs' thread to find ways of making a little more money, she suggested quidco and I remembered I already do that. I went to check my balance to find the £50 I had from opening new life insurance after the BR was ended a few months ago had been credited.

Chuffed, i can update my percentage :)

percentage is now 0.0019 <---- crikey talk about tiny steps:rotfl:

That's wonderful Miche - so glad we talked about the cashback sites, and everything else - and past times, that £50 may have been needed for a bill or something, so it goes to show how much you have leant and how far you have gone, that it is now syphoned away in your mortgage savings pot

    And I reckon 0.0003 to 0.0019 is a huge step hinny :T :T

Well DH was paid yesterday. I've looked in the account and found we finished the month with £40 spare. That £40 has been moved into the fund.

latest is 0.0033% with £98 in the fund already.

For someone who has learned to budget, plan and put money aside for certain things throught the year (Paid for MOT this month) to end the week of Christmas with £40 is ok but what the real revelation is that £40 has been moved. Normally anything left over would stay in the account and get spent the following month.

To actually save for nothing (it feels like nothing as we're so far off the goal) is going to take some doing. I have to stay positive and work to goals. For now the day I reach 1% will be a really pleasing day but we're still talking about minute numbers in comparison.

For me the easy thing would be continue as we have being.. not save but keep our heads above water. In order to save i'm going to have to cut back even further.

My bug bare right now is washing powder. I'm off to hunt some cheaper ways of washing our clothes. I'm sure my grandma didn't need to use big boxes of expensive powder.

Edited: found a thread for homemade laundry gloop :)
  • Having tried all washing things lol i just buy own brands non bio and its ok for stuff that needs to look pristine i use expesnive stuff or send it to home of ma and pa lol :) i look for what is on offer however i dont have much room to bulk buy washing and we only wash for two so it would be a long time supply lol.... if you really want to make the saving priority maybe say that birthdays and xmas from now on our gifting the savings accounts, ive told my family id prefer to finish my room so could they donate vouchers for paint or wall paper so its gifting but usful gifts rather than perfume that yes is nice but a luxury none the less meaning own budget utilised for the stuff that really makes one feel better :D xx im sure you will do just fine every little helps xx

I feel like I have learned loads over the year but I still squander and so does DH. This is the last thing we need to 'fix' so the saving is pretty high up in priorities.

We've received a cheque from father in law for presents for all of us. We're putting it aside for the new bunk bed and matresses for the girls in the next few months (using the council tax free months also) Little one is out growing her toddler bed and eldest DD sleeps on a slope as we broke the base when we moved in August last year. Anyway, it's bugs me but thats spoken for.

Any gifting I receive will go in the pot. I wonder if it's possible to obsess over saving. Can only be healthy right :D:rotfl:
  • Haha I've been up doing spreadsheet And debtsheets for 2 hours that's obsessing lol lol x
