Update post 8

I am sick to death of getting calls for Morrisons order dept or pickers. IThis has been going on over a year I admit it is only a few calls every month but its really annoying. It seems that my telephone number is printed on thier stationary. I have been through c/m services and they say they will deal but no one ever gets back to me. I finally got a name who was dealing but he is never available and never returns his e mails. I have been to the local Morrisons and spoken to the manager there who said she had passed it to her regional manager and again someone will get back to me. ( what a surprise no one does). What can I do next I have just spoken again to c/m services who said they will ring me back but no joy. Are they doing anything illegal by using my telephone number and area code? what recourse do I have. I would love to hear from someone who could tell me.

Do you have any proof that they have printed your number on stationary, how did you find this out?

Sometimes a similar number can easily be misdialled by a large number of people. One of my friends has a number similar to Maidstone Hospital and he regularly gets calls. My Mum and Dad used to have a similar number (except the STD code) to Eurotunnels old 0870 booking line.

Oh gawd - we used to have a number one digit different to a pub in a somewhat "lively" area of town. The number of calls I picked up to get some irrate woman demanding we turfed their bloke out of the bar and back home to his missus!

When I lived with my mum and dad and took these calls most people were apologetic and polite when I told them. Apart from one pompous ignoramus who insisted that he had called the correct number and that I should "serve him immediately" or else he would make a complaint about me to my bosses. So I took his booking.:D

I tapped away at my keyboard pretending to enter his personal and card details and gave him a confirmation number.:D Never knew if he made it across or not. :D

My phone number is 1 digit different to the local doctors (0 instead of a 1) - we get no end of calls for bookings!
  • I have tel numbers of 3 retailers that have my telephone number printed on paperwork. I cant get them to send it to me but they did confirm this. If it was just a number being dialled wrong it wouldnt be too bad but some of the calls get very irate because I am not Morrisons.
I have no telephone number for head office its just c/m services. I think I will try to get and e mail to chief exec.. Thanks.

  • My number was one digit off the local postal depot, and we used to get lots of calls asking when people could pick up their packages. I always remained polite, until the day that someone called in demanding to know why we hadn't called them back about their parcel, and that they needed it urgently. This person was going to make sure I got in trouble with my boss, in fact!

I asked him quite calmly if he thought the post office traditionally had an answerphone with the message 'This is Bargainbetty's phone, I'm not available right now, but leave a message and I'll get back to you.' No mention of the post office...... It took a good five minutes before he accepted he was calling a private home, and another two for him to apologise for disturbing me.

The number is also similar to a local pizza place. One guy called us six times - he admitted he kept pressing 'redial' instead of actually re-dialling the number. On the last time, my mate answered the phone and took his order.
Some days, it's just not worth chewing through the leather straps....
