Iphone buying advice

My husband is on a 02 simplicity, £10 pm unlimited o2 to o2 calls and unlimited txts, 12 month contract with 7 months left. The phone he has is a Nokia. For Christmas I am wanting to buy him a IPhone - can his sim card be put into the IPhone, would I be best just buying one out right and putting his old sim card in or is that not possible? If not what is best offer at the minute?

Thank you for reading and any advice would be very much appreciated.

  • He would need to get a mini-sim (which O2 would be happy to provide) and get a data bolt-on, which is about £5 a month. An iPhone without a data bolt-on is like a broken pencil - pointless.

Which iPhone are you considering buying?

Does he have any data allowance on his O2 Simplicity?

You'll have to get a Pay Monthly Micro SIM from the O2 shop (make sure you ask for an iPhone one, because sometimes they give iPad ones, which won't work in an iPhone) and then you can swap the number and contract onto the new SIM online. As others have said, make sure you have a data allowance
    Target Save £1k :o
    So far £625/£1000 :j

    ^^ That.

Make sure he phones up O2 for a data allowance as he could be potentially charged £1 a day for data (so £30 a month), by doing this he'll most likely lose his O2 to O2 call bolt on so he'll need to make sure he has enough minutes in his allowance.
  • You could consider Tesco Mobile which is effectivley O2. They offer the cheapest iPhone 4 deal IMO. I am currently on Tesco with the iPhone nad have had no problems. Customer service is really good.
