Avoid Ziinga!

  • Sadly I too have fallen fowl of their fraudulant tricks. I did not agree to any membership yet they signed me up automatically. They did say I had 7 days free trial on the membership and then when I tried to cancell on 6th day they demanded a cancellation fee.

Anyone reading this.................. please I beg you do not get involved.
  • i too ended up getting scammed by Ziinga.

Back in May I stumbled upon this site and used a 'free bid' with which I 'luckily' won a coffee machine for around £12,00. Stupidly gave my card details but can say with certainty there is no way at all I would have agreed to signing up for a 3 month membership for £58pm just to get a coffee machine i didnt have a partic need for. In fact at the time I wasnt sure whether the payment went through or not - I never received the coffee machine and just assumed that they either didnt have enough stock or my transaction didnt get processed. I never received any emails from them because I used my work email and Ive just found out they were rejected even before they reached the firewall as they were deemed 'high level spam'.

I thought no more about it until i checked by statements yesterday and realised £58 had been paid to Ziinga for 3 months. I immediately contacted my bank (they cant do anything) and Ziinga to cancel my membership.

I feel incredibly stupid about getting sucked into this and not even realising until now. Having read previous threads it seems a waste of time trying to reclaim my membership but what I am asking is whether I should use the 600 bids my membership has bought or will this drag me into another scam?

My feeling is you would win nothing and somehow end up oweing them more money.
  • I did the same thing sign up and then won a free bid, fortunately I then woke up to the fact its fake and a bit of a con, luckily I havent given any details except an hotmail email address. Judging by the previous replies I should be OK as all they have is an email address. Good luck to all the people trying to get there money back.

I like many others here have been taken in. I "won" a phantom phone, gave debit card details which was followed through by a requirement for a photocopy of front & back of my card and my passport or driving license - this is when I got suspicious and cancelled my card.
I left it a week and with no sight of the phone contacted them which led to cancelling the "contract", for which they require a £35 cancellation fee. The link they sent me to process it was for £35 not £27.55 being the agreed net amount allowing for the £7.45 paid already for the phantom phone.
Their explanation is that I pay the £35 and they "assure me" of the refund with 2 weeks. So my options are:
    1. Pay the £35 and trust they pay the refund - but this means leaving my card open to them to do whatever they want!
    2. Pay the £35 and then cancel the card immediately afterwards and put it down to experience.
    3. Pay nothing whatsoever and challenge them to come and get it.
Does anyone know of any court actions taken and the result? Anyone know of any action groups?

Its posts like this that ruin this site for others. I started this thread to help others. Not to be abused by a bored user who has nothing better to do.

If you would have read all my posts in this thread, you would have clearly seen that i had documented proof that i never agreed to the gold membership, along with emails from ziinga saying that they would cancel and refund all fees (which they did not).

The bank and consumer direct both agreed with me and i got my chargeback with no further action.

I doubt ziinga will risk legal action on a large scale. The last thing they want is a load of negative publicity.

Wish Martin who write a piece on it.

Can anyone say if there is any action group regarding this scam. And also, any knowledge of anyone simply not paying anything at all and any actions by ziinga.com to recover it.
  • One thing I dont understand is why so many people are shouting SCAM here and SCAM there. I made the mistake of bidding, but before purchasing (entering my card details) I noticed the 7 say free membership and an asterix along with the 60 pound fee warning. I read their terms (the whole damn thing), did not agree with them and before making a purchase i wrote to their customer support, informing them i did not agree with their terms and requested that they cancel my account.

I hate it when people blindly sign up to things online and whine when they feel they have been scammed. Seriously it says so in the damn terms. If you enter into a contract where you agree to pay 60 for a platinum membership its your fault. Just read the terms and conditions before accepting them. Supposedly you are all educated, hasen't anyone ever taught you to read the terms you are about to accept.

I just graduated in law, and the first thing they teach you is to read and understand any agreement you sign. If you dont accept dont sign and no one will charge you.

So if you've 'just graduated in law' perhaps you've spotted the glaring omission in Ziinga's t&cs?

Its clear that subzerob is simply bored and trying to start a fight.

As i've previously stated, when I started this thread, there was no checkbox. The t&cs mentioned three VIP levels which i never had the opportunity to select when they put me on the Gold level.

This thread is purely meant to prevent people from making a mistake.

I dont see why people like subzerob need to come on here and bash people who simply made a mistake.

subzerob, now that you've graduated, I hope you find a job soon so you don't need to bully people online.

    Hi,

    Avoid Ziinga.com.

I registered and bought 10 bids for £8.43, and they automatically signed me up for their Gold+ membership at £56 per month!

Just found it on my credit card and emailed them to get them to refund it and they said I agreed to it by making a purchase, which I did not.

My card company says they cant do anything about it.

    Avoid Ziinga.com like the plague.

Does anyone know what my rights are?

    Thanks
    Dan

I am also victim of this SCAM!!!
