Thanks for your story ozi in poland. I hope they won't make any further charges. They are again threatening to take me to court saying a cooling off period in Uk law does not apply to platinum membership! We'll see.
I'd like to hear more...

On the 15th April, this year, I stupidly bid for a mobile phone and was astonished when I got it for only £2.80 and only then did I Google them, what a complete idiot am I. They took the £2.80 immediately from my bank account, I sent them an email when they asked for a photo copy of my Credit Card and Driver’s License telling them no-one will ever get those from me and told them to cancel everything and refund my money. I contacted my Bank and requested a new card BUT today I find that they have taken a further £2.80 from my account.
I have just contacted my bank asking why they could access my account with the old card and they said that I had entered into a contract with them and should have read their Terms and Conditions more carefully, but also said that Ziinga would be requesting a £59.99 membership fee shortly, so on his advice I have issued a refusal to pay and when I see it in my account to phone that Bank who will cancel the payment. I would say that Ziinga are committing a form of fraud and can't see how they are getting away with it, so BEWARE don't have anything to do with them IMO.0 -
Id reply with well you did no charge back. clearly being a "computer consultant" has failed you.
We recommend you visit amazon for a book on computing!
Its posts like this that ruin this site for others. I started this thread to help others. Not to be abused by a bored user who has nothing better to do.
If you would have read all my posts in this thread, you would have clearly seen that i had documented proof that i never agreed to the gold membership, along with emails from ziinga saying that they would cancel and refund all fees (which they did not).
The bank and consumer direct both agreed with me and i got my chargeback with no further action.
I doubt ziinga will risk legal action on a large scale. The last thing they want is a load of negative publicity.

I feel so depressed about being taken in by these people.
I realised when they asked for my passport details but consoled myself it was only £4.20 I had lost. Little did I know they have now signed me up to a premimum membership. I have contacted them repeatedly and they are only giving me the option to cancel for £35.
I cancelled my card which is just as well as they then said they tried to take the £35 but couldn't. Now they are telling me they will send Bayliffs round unless I pay them.
What should I do? Am tempted to pay but I don't have a card now! I can ask my credit cared company to raise a dispute but am worried by reading about threats and extra charges.
Am I doing everything I should be doing? Any more suggestions?0 -
I haven't heard of Ziinga! before, but reading here and on the web, it seems like an absolute scam to me. I feel great sympathy for those who have been taken in.0

They are one of the many supposedly cheap auctions sites that expect buyers to pay for the privilege of using them- often some very large amounts. Yes it is a sort of scam but on the other hand all users formally confirm before they are allowed to sign up that they understand the T and cs, one of which is that there is an associated monthly fee.
MembershipZiinga offers different types of memberships, each with a corresponding monthly fee.
All VIP memberships come with a 3-month binding contract. Customers who breach the 3-month binding contract will be charged a cancellation fee of £ 35.00. Note that cancellation of the contract will void any free promotional gift offer.
As part of our 30-day return policy, refunds must be claimed within 30 days after the date of sign up. However, users may only be entitled to a subscription fee refund if they have not used any of their membership benefits (cancellation fee applies). If the member has already received a free promotional gift from Ziinga, that item must be returned to Ziinga's return address in an unopened condition. Once Ziinga receives the item and all requirements have been fulfilled, Ziinga will process the refund request immediately.
Whilst the terms and conditions are VERY clear and are a single click away from the home page I don't think they are going to be closed down any time soon. There is only a certain amount of warning you can give people about confirming they have read the terms and conditions , at some point users must take some responsibility.
This company is out to make a lot of money through signing up gullible people, if we all took a moment to keep our sensible hats on these scam sites would soon fold- the only reason they keep going is because people sign up completely blindly to all sorts of things. I urg epeople to read what they are signing up to- lets put a stop to these sites, make the scammers behind them go and earn an honest living for a change.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. Have you now formally cancelled your account as per the t and cs otherwise you are incurring more monthly fees.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. I did read about the T&Cs, but I also read of some people who didn't actually receive the item that they were told that they had won. Or is it more complicated than I'm thinking and the T&Cs mean that users pay even if they don't receive the item.
I also read of some claims that people were being charged even though they were careful and no such T&Cs were shown to them.0
