Fish Pedicure

they had one one the go in our local shopping centre (north london). it amazes me what they will do in public shopping centres - eyebrow plucking, teeth whitening..it'll be bikini waxes next. it looked absolutely gross. it is after all nothing more fancy than putting your feet in a tank with fish in that you allow to nibble at you. afaik they don't change the water between customers so your tootsies are also sharing space with the cheesy feet water of others (as well as fishy excrement of fish that have fed on manky human feet).
feet and fish. yuk!
leeches anyone?
Happy Feet in Nottingham Vic centre looks brill - although I agree, I wouldn't really want to be in the mall-level tanks with shoppers gawping at you! They have tanks out of sight too, up some steps. The assistant there was telling us the fish don't eat your feet skin, they just nibble it off and then the tank is kept clean of debris by a large filter which is continuously running. From what I could see, there are around 20 tanks full of fish there, so I'm guessing that would be enough hungry fish for even a Saturday rush.

i'm sure they'll be oxygenated like a regular fish tank. the full sterilization would only happen on an empty tank though you couldn't blast that much uv at a tank full of fish as it would harm them. and nothing is going to stop them pooing. Those who will not reason, are bigots, those who cannot, are fools, and those who dare not, are slaves. - Lord Byron0

Fish spas are great the results are brilliant and much better than anything you would achieve with a foot scrub. Although I do baulk at paying the prices over here when I was paying £2 for 30mins treatment in thailand.
It tickles like mad for the first 5 mins, and is a very odd feeling but then it becomes quite relaxing.0 -
I had this done about a month ago. I found it good fun actually, the sensation was a little bizarre, kind of felt like pins and needles when you start to get the feeling back into your feet! As for the real health benefits, Im not too sure and would mostly consider it for fun only, but then again my feet are in good condition anyway.
I do find it a little weird that they're in shopping centres, but then again I've seen a number of beauty treatments start to work their way into public.0 -

I was meant to be having one today,£10 for 15 minutes, but as I'm ill didn't.Been looking forward to it so will go on the thursday after christmas
Looks like great fun aswell as being a 'treatment' as it were! The one I'm going to they claim to steralise the water several times an hour (not sure how) and you have to wash your feet there first to make sure they're clean. So you won't be sharing yucky foot stuff from other people lol.
They offer a foot massage and moisturising treatment after for another tenner or so tooIf women are birds and freedom is flight are trapped women Dodos?0 -
