New Sunvic Programmer - Issues

Hi all you technical heating gurus... :)

We previously had an old-fashioned acl lifestyle lp722 timer, which had limited functionality. We wanted something which allowed 3 on/off periods, and a 1/2/3 hour boost, rather than just an "advance" feature, so bought a new Sunvic timer.

Whilst the timer itself is working perfectly, we've had no issue with the heating and hot water coming on independently and have been very happy with the way it works.

BUT... crucially... it keeps on randomly resetting itself, I can't quite work out when, or why. The CH off cable is empty, there is no room stat or anything to turn off the CH, the other 3 are wired perfectly and trip in and out as required.

Does anyone know why the timer is resetting itself? The issue is that when it resets, it starts in the "off" mode and obviously in this weather isn't ideal, at all...

Thanks in advance - we've only had the timer for a week, so I'm happy to take it back and query, but if there's anything I can do, or check, I'd be happy and keen to see what's going on. I don't want to buy another programmer if it'd mean that I'll have the same issue with something else!

Screwfix sold me a programmer with the instructions missing, and it wasn't switching on the boiler, so it was obviously a return put back into stock by mistake. It happens, but the mechanism is very simple: it either works or or it doesn't. If not, swap it.

Put the LP722 back to get you going again.

Return the Sunvic and get a Honeywell ST9400C.

The ST9400C has the boost buttons that do 1/2/3/0 hour boost, 7 day, holiday mode, etc. I love it.The programming buttons are hidden, only the frequently used buttons are showing, so it looks neat as well.

I agree completely. I bought my ST9400C Via Ebay. Cost £32 pound when I bought mine.

    Example. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Honeywell-ST9400C-Prgrammer-brand-new-boxed-bargain-/270682472462?pt=UK_DIY_Materials_Plumbing_MJ&hash=item3f05eec00e.

    Lots of other suppliers too!

  • Thanks guys... Refund complete, we're back with the old acl programmer, which will keep us going, and warm hopefully...

Now, onto the next question... Honeywell, Honeywell or Honeywell? Or any others? We don't want to spend a fortune, because the cost for a new programmer would be more than the amount of money we'd save by sticking with what we have at the moment...

PS At the moment, the ch + hw is one hour in the morning, and 5:30-9:30 at night. I'd like it to be 5:30 til 7 and 8:30 til 9:30, and the 90 minutes in the middle when it's off would be heated by the cooking.

Or should I work on the theory that if it ain't broken, we should just leave it with what we have? Thanks!
