Lost SIM?

I bought a Orange San Francisco on PAYG a few months back as I already had a pay as you go SIM with Orange.
I had it delivered to another address to give as I wasn't home and I ordered one for myself and another as a gift to a friend and she had to post me the SIM so she put the SIM as well as something as a present (a box of chocolate) in an envelope and sent it via Royal Mail, but the post never arrived. I get a lot of post from her so it is the first time (I already had the phone at my house but left the SIM at hers - we live in different cities). We're both on contract but since we had a pay as you go SIM already, thought we'd get the phone as my own upgrade was due later.
Anyway, so it has a potential of £10 credit on that SIM. I did register it but didn't get the £10 credit on there which I believe you have to keep asking them for (after reading other threads). However, it is lost. So will it make-do if I get a random orange SIM that normally has the £5 free credit listed on the packaging or will I end up losing out and they willg ive me £5 only because that is what the SIM is advertising?

Where did you buy the phone from ? Was it from Orange online? If so then they should have a record of what sim was associated to it at the time. Get them to add the £10 credit if it needs to be added. Call back an hour later and ask them to move the credit to any other sim that you want it moved to. You may have to be persisant as not all operators will move credit ! However it can be done manually by removing if from one account and adding it to another. Hope this helps0

I bought the phone over the phone (by calling them).
