Is the 'really old square' TV a TX29A3 ?0

There are car snobs, camera snobs and tv . . . . admirers. This is a moneysaving website isn't it ? £650 is pretty high for a 42" tv.
I wouldn't recommend any tv in this case as I/we don't know what's needed.

Maybe a 42" screen is going to be a bit small for it's intended setting ?0 -

£30 more in John Lewis with 5 year guarantee
Ive just bought a Panasonic TX-L37D25B LED backlight LCD from John Lewis £799-00 .I tried all the shopping bots and the cheapest I could find it was £769-00 with a 5 yr warranty.
But I have to admit I couldn't find out from their website exactly what the conditions of the warranty were so I wouldn't know if it was any good...
My existing TV was a Panasonic ,about 6yrs old and nothing wrong with it TBH , just fancied a change but like others have said they do make good tv's ..0 -
Hi, obviously ddoris doesn't bother to read the spec of any tv's he see's. The Panasonic in question has freeview HD and freesat HD and as aliEnRIK says ' Panasonic make good tv's. Most of the ones picked by ddoris are lower spec budget level tv's, the OP asked if he could get better for the money, well he could definately get a bigger tv with a poorer picture but I doubt if he could get a much better picture and spec, at this price, at the present time.0

Before you buy, be aware of the problems Panasonic plasmas have had in the last 2 years.
Here is one article http://news.cnet.com/8301-17938_105-10462105-1.html?!!!!!mncol;txt to get you started.
If you google "Panasonic plasma black level problems" there are enough horror stories to read to keep you busy for months. Mine is in there somewhere!
The technology that caused these problems is still present in the set you are considering, though Panasonic claim it is more refined than last years models.0 -
Hi
We have a very old square tv and hoping to try and look for a newer one in the sale maybe , the one I have seen is Panasonic
TX-P42G20B 42in HD ready 1080p Plasma 600Hz
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Panasonic-TX-P42G20B-42-inch-Widescreen-Freeview/dp/B0039SLYE6
What do you think of it as a tv could I get a better for the money .
Richer Sounds doing it for just under £600. BUY IT. Its a THX certified display, has both FReeview HD and Freesat HD tuners and if you add a USB hard drive, it'll do live pause, rewind and recording. Standard definition image quality is very very good - I watch at a distance of 8ft. Also has internet access via network cable or an additional wifi adapter. AV Forums reviews have it as "Excellent" and one of the best non-calibrated screens there is. Not noticed the black issue mentioned.
One point to note though that as its a plasma, the screen is reflective.
Got one here. Had it just short of a year. You will not be disappointed.0
