Cheap deal for texts and calls + new phone?

Just called O2...because I want a better phone but am not prepared to pay more a month for it or be tied in for years they can't offer me anything. I told them about the Tesco mobile deal but he said they don't match other network's tariffs so that is that I think!
It doesn't make sense to spend £80 on a phone from their website when I can get it from Tesco's for £20 cheaper, but I have to decide now whether it's worth it just to not have the hassle of changing networks.
A shame they're so inflexible...0 -
For the sake of making 2 phones calls (one to O2 to get the PAC and one to Tesco to give it to them) I'd definitely save myself £20 and go with the Tesco handset and SIM only plan. The Tesco deal also gives you more minutes, more texts and data for your £10 each month. You say you don't use internet and don't mention if you have data on your current plan, but as the C3 comes with email, facebook, twitter etc you might want some data with it.0

You can get the C3 for £49.95 + £10 top up - £6.50 Quidco or Topcashback, it should be unlocked.0

but you will be getting 350 more minutes and a hell of a lot more texts for the same price as you are paying now, you say you dont use that many, but for the same price and same terms, i.e monthly rolling contract, surely its a no brainer, or am i missing somethingTake every day as it comes!!0 -
Yes I think you're right spaceman, it's a no-brainer
Orrin, I don't plan on using internet or downloading, I just want texts and call time — and a better phone. It's all been about getting a better phone!
I still want to take my number with me if I can though, and get it put on the Tesco SIM.
ioscorpio, I'm not sure I'm savvy enough to do the whole cashback thing. I've never done it before. Where is the offer to get the phone for £49.95?0 -
Phones4u and Dialaphone have it for £49.95

You can also get it on contract for £10 a month + £35.35 cashback or £65.65 for a Vodafone contract.

Using a cashback site like Topcashback is very easy, I can refer you if you want, then you just sign up and click through to the website that you want to buy from, just make sure you clear your cookies before you start for each purchase to make sure it tracks through Topcashback.0 -

Thanks Orrin for the links, the phone comes to the same price as Tesco.com with the PAYG talktime you have to purchase, so I think I will go with the original Tesco offer + SIM I found originally, particularly as it's another monthly rolling contract. But really appreciate your help! It's helpful to be able to bounce my thoughts off other mobile-savvy people0 -
yeah I'd definitely just go the Tesco route - will be cheaper overall. Also use skype for free calls - you can get it set up to go right to your phone now a days!Carrie0
