my 14 year old is now the proud owner of my old blackberry. He is currently on payg with orange but seems to top up about £20 per month. He doesnt use the phone for surfing the net, but calls and texts seem pricey, and I was wondering which of the payg tariffs are cheaper (if any). He prefers texting to calling.
I was going to take out a sim only contract on his behalf and deduct it from his pocket money, but really want him to get used to managing his money himself.

all suggestions welcome.

Try SIMPLICITY on pay and go with 02, £5 deducted from your calltime gives unlimited texts, and you add on a Blackberry bolt on for £5 a month and this gives you 500mb of web, push email free wifi access to BTOpenzone and The Cloud wifi hotspots and the BBM service. If you had any other sort of free web allowance you would not get Blackberry services like push email and BBM at all. You will end up with a £0.00 balance on your calltime so you cannot make calls but by sound of it he wouldn't be bothered by that.
CC limits £26000
Long term CC debt £0
Total low rate loan debt £3000
Almost debt free feeling, priceless.
Ex money nightmare, learnt from my mistakes and never going back there again, in control of my finances for the first time in my adult life and it feels amazing.0
