Hi i am thinking about buying a sony ericcsson k800i for xmas and was wondering what the sound quality is like when played out loud through the built in speaker and with the supplied headphones. And also what is is different about the software on the walkman phones.

I've got the K800i, and OH has a walkman w900.
The only real difference is that she can just use her phone as an MP3 player from start up, whereas k800i you need to navigate to a media player via the normal menu screen.
No difference in sound quality ( but my speaker gets a bit crackly at max volume - no real problem cos i use the headphones most of the time).
Long and short is - if you want a great camera with a good mp3 player, then go for the k800i; if you want a simple to use walkman mp3 player and aren't worried about camera then go for the walkman.
( one thing to remember is that the new w950 doesn't have a camera)

I've got a K800i - sound quality without headphones isn't loud, but is superior to the W800i IMHO - cracking camera too

Hey theres a shortcut button on the right handside for mp3 player.
Also if you go into equaliser you can increase bass treble etc to get a louder volumeIsn't the knowledge that comes from experience more valuable than the knowledge that doesn't?0 -

As mentioned, if your press the play/stop button on the left hand side, this starts playing the playlist. Alternatively, i have set up my shortcuts so the 'up' on my joystick from standby will take me straight to the Playlist.
When you are listening to Mp3's on it, its also worthwhile knowing that obviously, up/down volume does as its supposed to, but if you hold down volume, it skips to the next track, and up skips to the previous.
It mutes when you get a call or sms and doesn't ring through the earphones like most Nokias do (which used to scare the life out of me!!).CPW Retail

i can make my k700 ring through the headphones by inserting the headset and putting the phone on silent.0 -
