ok so just for the sake of argument getmore4less, if what youre saying is correct, then theres no way they could make me work my day off this week? I think what we're going to do at work tomorrow is discuss with hr all of the possible permeatations which both yourself and kiki have touched upon, just to get things clarified once and for all. I dont mind working when I have to, but I really hate getting taken advantage of!
For the Sunday
They have the option to allocate holiday to this day or just pay it.
They should offer options, like unpaid or work the hours, for those that do not want to use up holiday.
It is likely there are some flexability clauses in the contracts but without those they probably would have to pay someone if they had no holiday left and refused to make up the hours.
With a flexability clause they may be able to not offer the holiday option and have you work the hours at an alternative time.
The reality is use up holiday(which includes the extra hours) or work the hours.0 -
But he *is* being paid for it. Sunday is, in effect, part of his weekend. That's part of your salary / holiday package. He has two days off this week, just different days to those he usually has. So it is 'paid' in effect.
Sunday has no holiday allocation for him because it's not a holiday in any way - it's just his weekend, and there's no option to work it.
KiKi' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".0 -

KiKi
Thats because they are changing the contactual hours for the week to include the Thurs, there should be the option to take this as holiday and especialy if there is no allowance for variation of shifts in the contract it should be allocated holiday first with the option to make up the hours if you don't want to use the holiday.0
