Thanks guys! I waited a long time on the phone for the eleventh time and yes, managed to change the flight! They only had for Tuesday but managed to get one for Monday leaving from a different airport (not ideal). But at least he is leaving only one day later and not two! They confirmed they were blocking changes on internet "to concentrate on tomorrow's flights changes" or something like that. These people stink!

Don't be so silly, they have not been ignoring calls, they have been dealing with people in front of you in the queue. Yep, other passengers, your husband was not the only one trying to get through.

If he finds himself in this position in the future you have two options - go to the airport and speak to a BA agent in person, or ring up and keep holding until they answer. All hanging up will do is take you to the back of the queue.
    Gone ... or have I?

My husband is working abroad and was due to flight back tonight. BA cancelled the flight because of the weather. They have confirmed this with an email where they give you telephone numbers and send you to the site. But they have not been taking calls ALL DAY and the site tells you the cancelled flight CANT' BE REBOOKED.
WHAT DO I DO? Do they have the right to ignore people at their pleasure?
    Thanks for any suggestions!

    You do nothing

let OH sort it out at his end [STRIKE]or let his work do it[/STRIKE].

Why do people panic over nothing.

oh and I imagine you were very rude to the person who answered your call and tried to help...
saying that BA have 'not been taking calls all day' is a ridiculous statement. Perhaps the lines were busy? Did that occur to you?
The UK contact centres were staffed yesterday from 6am till 9pm - with people who had struggled themselves to get into work and were taking abuse from people who make nasty comments like your last sentence. And before anyone starts on about BA staff being overpaid (vis cabin crew), the contact centre staff are on normal call centre/travel industry salaries.

I understand that you were upset because he was stuck, but so are thousands of other people, and the staff working for the airlines and travel companies are generally doing their best to help customers.

It' posts like this that keep me coming back here. Some people shouldn't be let near air travel:rotfl:
The common law of business balance prohibits paying a little and getting a lot. If you deal with the lowest bidder, it is well to add something for the risk you run, and if you do that you will have enough to pay for something better.

OP you do seem to be over reacting. He has somewhere to stay and I assume he is keeping receipts for meals and accommodation which he will be able to claim back from BA. It's not that bad is it?

No they don't and yes, I suppose he'll find where to stay. The problem is the later we sort this out the less options we are going to have. Never mind, we'll keep trying. Thanks for trying to help!

these types of company typically always have a 24hr / out of hours number, alternatively if he is agency perhaps the main company he is contracting to has a travel department that can help.

Doesn;t look good for the main company to be getting contractors stranded and not helping.... esp if they're likely to want your husband to b willing to come back to do work for them in future
  • BA are not taking calls today. I have been at airport off and on for 3 days due to cancelled flights. Every time I call BA they hang up. BA.com aren't responding either. You can queue at BA ticket desk ( not check in) for a rebook which I have already done this weekend ( took 2 hours to serve around 20 people) but then my flight was cancelled so I ended up just coming home. They are being very unhelpful busy though they may be.
