HELP! Husband stranded abroad!

My husband is working abroad and was due to flight back tonight. BA cancelled the flight because of the weather. They have confirmed this with an email where they give you telephone numbers and send you to the site. But they have not been taking calls ALL DAY and the site tells you the cancelled flight CANT' BE REBOOKED.
WHAT DO I DO? Do they have the right to ignore people at their pleasure?
Thanks for any suggestions!

Where is he? Is he not getting on the next available flight?
Does his work book his flights? Can he get in touch with someone there and they can arrange something for him?0 -
Have you looked at this on BAs site
What to do if your flight has been cancelled
We have a policy in place outlining the options available to you and how to make changes to your booking.
We are experiencing extremely high call volumes in our call centres so where possible please use ba.com or contact your travel agent to rearrange your travel plans.

That is what he would like to do but how to book if BA has gone AWOL?0

I have used BA site Mandi, with all the right information, and it tells me the flight CAN'T be rebooked. We booked through an agent which is only going to be open on Monday!!!0

Did he book it himself, or did his work do it? Does he have an out of hours contact number for his work?0
-
No, he is a free lancer and we booked through an agency which is only going to open on Monday....0
-
Has he got somewhere to stay in the meantime? Doesn't the agency have an e-mail or an emergency number?0
-
No they don't and yes, I suppose he'll find where to stay. The problem is the later we sort this out the less options we are going to have. Never mind, we'll keep trying. Thanks for trying to help!0

I had this problem with the BA booking system when stuck in India in April because of the volcano ash. Don't rely on your agent to rebook - keep trying BA yourself. Unfortunately it took us five days and about £200 in phone calls (India to UK) just to get hold of someone at BA, and they couldn't rebook us until five days after that. Is there a local BA office where your husband is? He might have more success with that than with the UK call centre.3-6 Month Emergency Fund #14: £9000 / £10,0000

I also had difficulty contacting BA when I was stuck in Las Vegas due to the ash cloud and I remember someone suggested phoning the sales line as they will answer that and they got them to transfer their call. I also discovered that it appeared easier to get a response from the Uk than from USA. I hope you get it sorted out as I remember how stressful it was.0
