Anyone know what West Malling/Kings Hill is like to live

Anyone here live in West Malling/Kings Hill?

Looking for advice/reviews about the area. They seem to have had quite alot of new houses built there. Also as it is near Tonbridge I am hoping the area is quite nice and isnt a chavvy/ghetto run down.

I know tunbridge Wells is a nice place to live but it is too pricy for what I am looking for so I am trying neighbouring towns of Tonbridge and Tunbridge Wells.

Thanks

I used to work at Kings Hill. the houses are lovely and it definitely is far too expensive for chavs! Way out of my price range!

  • Kings Hill is lovely. There is a 'council' estate at the back of Kings hill that classes itself as Kings Hill though. But, trust me, when you go to look at a house there you will know if you are in the right Kings Hill or not. West Malling is also really nice.
We lived in Leybourne Lakes which is a nice area too.

    Certainly not chavvy!

    Are you commuting somewhere?

    Kings Hill = Footballers wives!
  • Kings Hill sounds promising. Given that there are many houses that meet my price range I am surprised to hear generally positive views about the place.

How does kings hill compare to Tonbridge.

Which area is the better place to live?

(I will be commuting to London for work)

Tonbridge is ok, poorer cousin of tunny wells. Not as nice, but not bad, some bits better than others as everywhere. If you like modern housing the new estates at padock wood may be worth a look, a funny little place, with beautiful villaes around, depends what you want really.

You want Tonbridge then. The lines from Ashford and Hastings join at Tonbridge so you get many more trains to the City. What kind of money are you looking to spend? I'll steer you in the right direction.

PS I worked in London for 20years and commuted from Tonbridge.
  • I dont think you can go wrong in any of those areas to be honest. We moved from there to Ashford because we couldn't get on the property ladder in that area. Houses were 'just' out of our price range.

Personally, I would opt for Kings Hill / West Malling over Tonbridge, but that is only because I dont know the Tonbridge area well enough to make a judgement call.

There is a direct line from West Malling station (between West Malling and Kings Hill) to Victoria. Takes less than an hour on a 'fast' train.

    Very envious of you!!! :p
