The gross amount you are being paid and have declared to HMRC/Tax Credits will not change (this is the amount before tax that you tell them about on your declarations). As this isn't changing then there is no change in circumstances so will not affect your payments. All that is happening with a nil tax code is that your employer will pay you gross less national insurance (with the tax in it) rather than net (less national insurance and less tax).
You will have to pay the tax portion to the OR; probably via a company called MoonBeever.0 -
She went through everything. Then told us nothing would have to be paid! Im angry and my wifes upset! Why oh why play with our emotions like this! Its not fair.
My wifes cried herself to sleep with worry, shes in bed and told me she doesnt want to wake up while monday so it can be dealt with!!
I feel bloody useless.
For those that think bankruptcy is an easy way out i wish they knew!!!!
Thank you for your quick replies! Even if you cant help jut having a response is helpful. Thanks
Firstly I am sorry you have been treated like this try and calm down as you can't do anything until Monday, I know it is easy for me to say that as I am on the other side now but I worried myself sick over things which we were able to sort out. Call the OR on Monday and ask them to explain, they mixed us up with another person who had the same name as my oh twice , so they might have done that with you, also we put down on our sa things that were read the wrong way, they nearly had us paying £453 a month when we were in arrears, they are under a lot of pressure xx they lost paperwork we sent in and said sorry for doing it so please ask the nicely to go back through things again. The first few weeks are stressful and the whole year gets easier do please get your wife a drink and try not to stress ubtil Monday, as they say if you can change it change it if you can't you are in the lap of the gods and 99.9% of what pepop;e worry about never happensIf you woke up this morning congratulations, you have another chance :j0 -

I must admit when we got the letters confirming about nil tax we had exactly the same reaction as well, I think its because you scan letters quickly and pick out certain words, it is heartstopping so I feel your pain, and really glad its been resolved0

I believe the OP has had the problem sorted by us lot....which is a nice outcome.
However, the OP's plight does raise an issue in my eyes.......that of the lack of knowledge and understanding of the process by so many folk who enter into BR.
Whether it is due to inadequate counselling initially...or simply that, pre-BR for many the world is ending due to stress, I wouldn't like to guess at.
It really is such a pity that this forum isn't promoted more at the pre-BR stage...so many folk would have a much easier time, emotionally, at BR.
and yes, I acknowledge the impracticalities of that last statement, but the evidence does speak for itself...No, I don't think all other drivers are idiots......but some are determined to change my mind.......0
