Canceling a contract due to change of t&c's?
Hi,
I remember about a year and a half ago when i was on a orange contract i was allowed to cancel my contract due to orange changing there terms and conditions.
I am now with Vodaphone and have been with them for 18months.
I have probably got this wrong but, due to the vat going up does this mean that the terms and conditions have changed since i took the contract out? Giving me an escape claus?
Thanks.

No I don't think this could be classed as a change in your contract as it usually lists the price exclusive of VAT. It's also completely beyond Vodafone's control.0

Yes you can cancel your contract but you will pay the remander of the contract minus VAT0

VAT is not part of the contract any government increase in duty does not effect the contract .
But lots of companies are also pushing their package costs up with the planned increase . That rise may breach T&C and allow you to cancel .
Need to read your T&C .

All network providers have a line in their T&C saying they can increase charges due to VAT and other taxation outside of their control, it wont be a breach of your T&C. Most also have a line about increases due to inflation so it would have to be an increase of the ex-VAT amounts above the rate of inflation.0

You can't cancel your contract, jog on, don't bother coming back0

Look, I agree with you that people who welch, or try to, on contracts don't deserve a lot of sympathy, but OP is a newby and MSE etiquette reads

Who knows, if they stick around rather than jogging on , they might develop a sense of honour.0
