Freesat/Sky LNB feed query

I was thinking of buying 'er indoors a cheap and cheerful freesat box for Crimbo, (Her's been a bit envious recently since I bought my Humax). The problem is that I've run out of feeds on my quad LNB. There's one feed going to her quarters which she uses for the free Sky channels, does anyone know of a gizmo available which would allow this feed to be used for the input with 2 (or more) outputs ? (similar to the remote control thingies that you can get for HDMI).
Continually disconnecting the F type connector and connecting it to the required box is a no no on the grounds of lack of technical expertise and idleness, besides that, I must admit that I would find it a bit of a pain after a while.
I've had a look through Maplins but can't find anything on there.

Only way you'll be able to do it is swap the Quad LNB for an Octo..The LNB acts like a tv tuner & when you change channels on the box,the LNB changes too.

  • Thanks Spike, it looks like plan B then. (I don't fancy the upheaval of getting the floorboards up again to run the coax in.)

You might want to consider an internet enabled TV where she can watch all the soaps on Iplayer etc.

You would need to increase your budget. Don't be a scrooge, go on you know she is worth it.

That switch from Maplin would do the job, but as ukcarper points out, wont gain much by having a freesat box. EPG is better on freesat and a get a cpl of extra channels

No real benefit having Freesat, the channel line up is dire rubbish, I far prefer Freeview.

FreesatfromSky has a better channel line up than Freesat.

Cash is a bit tight at the moment, I've got to shell out for an operation on Tiny Tims leg.

I've got to agree with you wholeheartedly on this. Unfortunately it is those extra channels that do it for us, Showcase, Vintage TV.

Horses for courses I suppose, I do lapse into Yesterday, Dave and Quest now and again though.

I'll have an amble over to Maplins dinnertime and pick up one of those switches.
Many thanks for all your input.

Did you scroll down the page and read the Q&A's, it seems that it will not work on satellite feeds.

If you read all question and answers there seems to be some discrepancy but the majority of answers seem to say you can.

I wouldn't trust anything that Maplins staff told me anyway ... ;)

There is a small voltage going through a satellite feed, I'm not sure if this would have any impact on the functioning of this item, it is listed as a an " Aerial Switch ", obviously a satellite feed is not an aerial feed.
