Problem is the last minute booking prices, if he could've gone on a BA flight it probably would've cost double. And yes all these extra costs suck, I booked with flybe and they charged me over a tenner to pay with my visa debit card and 20 quid for a suitcase.
Hope he gets home for you soon.
    :hello:

    Thankyou for the kind words

I was just so peeved that they can charge 6 quid and actually debit it for online booking - then not allow you to book online

I wasn't quibbling about the last minute booking charges - flybe put a flight price up £100 whilst I was booking it. The Aer lingus I had managed to get him booked on (before that got cancelled) was £350. I accept that last minute you pay dear for - hence we always book at least 4 weeks when we can.

Just today you can see it is severe weather here - the worse in 25 years. The city airport opened for around 20 mins before it closed again. My nearest main road is 6inches deep in snow - thats if I can even get onto it. Why they cant relax rules in severe weather conditions is beyond me that's all. There is no way of contacting them, - you get a fax number - no email or phone number, so you cant even plea extenuating circumstances

And for those who say use other airlines to get home - dont you think I tried - you couldnt get a flight this weekend no matter how much you paid. Id see one for Monday - click book - gone - same for Tuesday and Wednesday

The smart comments to go to Dublin - you ask an internal flight to re direct into Dublin lol. There was only standby into Dublin from 10 am this morning with the scheduled flights

Yes he could go holyhead - but a friend stepped into the breach and said get to Scotland, stay over and Ill drop you at the ferry in the morning so of course we took that kind offer. So hubby boarded a coach full of other displaced NI workers and headed to Stansted and Scotland for the ferry

I dont know, it seems like theres those on these forums with the "im all right jack "mentality and just didnt read what I was actually "venting " about

I just pray that the time that those are in need - they dont face a barrage of jobsworths

As it happens hes not flying ryanair now - because in my haste to snap a seat that was still available I didn't see the small print that says British people need a British Passport to fly on an internal flight in their own country. But hey before anyone jumps down my throat and takes a kick at someone when shes down already - Im not spouting off about that - them is the rules I made a mistake . But Easyjet have just booked him into a flight with no extra charge or fuss.

Still needs to get from Glasgow to Ayr but at least I know hes heading home

And I hope all those who face the prospect of getting home for Christmas this coming week - dont face the same challenges or at least if they do - they arent met with total jobsworths
  • Ah, bless you, when he's finally home you can put all this behind you and hopefully have a great christmas. It seems as if everything was against you this time, the weather, the crap customer service of Ryanair, some horrible comments from people on this forum blah blah blah......give him a big hug when he walks through that door and it will all melt away x x
    2013 NSD challenge 3/10 :D
  • Some people on here really are !!!!!y to others. So everyone makes mistakes, so what? That doesn't make it any less annoying, especially when you're waiting for your husband to come home! OP hopefully you will see him soon!
