Ryanair

I wouldnt normally have a moan or voice my disgust anywhere so public usually but Im just totally gobsmacked at the greed of this company

Husband in London, Home is NI. He was booked with easy jet which was cancelled early and their next available flight was for next Wednesday. So I got him booked in with aer lingus- and then all airports here got closed

So our only option was to fly him London Stansted to Prestwick/Glasgow where a friend would pick him up, let him stay overnight and take him to the ferry port in the morning

So he jumps on the coach from Heathrow and I book his flight.

Im charged 6quid online booking - its deducted - I cant find anywhere to not have it because he cant check in online as theres not enough time difference according to their rules

So I ring Ryanair to ask how was he to check in - "at the desk and that will be £40 for the privilege"

So I ask could it not be wavered as it was a flight purely because of the bad weather conditions, "no - thats not in our policy" so i ask for a refund of the £6 they had taken from me already to check in - and have a guess - not their policy either. The best they could suggest was to fax in but seeing as when I rang I had to listen to spiel about people looking for refunds for their flights disrupted from the volcanic ash - I don't hold out much chance

The cost of the ticket in the first place was what most would pay for a flight to New York let alone 400 mile internal flight - his original cost home of £75 is now reaching £500 and we still dont know how hes getting from Belfast docks to home :(

Id never fly Ryanair if we had the choice - they have you over a barrel and laugh all the way to the bank - its disgusting

If you didn't like it, why not just book with someone else? You won't get anymore sympathy from a full cost airline.
    Gone ... or have I?

He needed to get back to Belfast - BA have three flights running today, and there was availability on the earlier two flights.

Now if you are looking for stupid, are there any mirrors nearby? :rotfl:

Loads of airlines fly London-Glasgow - you're telling me that he couldn't have gone up with one of those and then got a bus over to Prestwick?

Or even flown to Dublin or similar and travelled over that way?

No need to call someone else stupid, not when you've punted over £400 on an internal flight yourself.....
Oh come on, don't be silly.

    It's the internet
    - it's not real!

Dublin flights all full today - because the NI airports closed - hey go figure

Where did I say I paid 400 quid??

And actually I asked dmg if he was stupid - I never said he was. He just proved he was himself for not reading the OP

Bus it over - 40 miles and we dont know what the weather is doing in Glasgow when we struggling to get seats booked asap before they are snapped up??

So next bit of constructive advice????

    How about
"if you end up paying over the odds with a low-cost carrier once and and never fly with them again, it was probably worth it" ? :)

You really are a nasty piece of work arent you?

So glad everything is so sweet in your life that you have to come on line and be down right nasty to others when they are at a very low ebb

Ive not seen my husband for a month, cos unlike some he gets off his back side and travels to where there is work. The disappointment we as a family have that hes not home tonight is HUGE. Im also worried sick because I dont know where he is at this time as his battery has died a death on his phone. I also dont have any idea how Im going to get him home if he gets to Belfast tomorrow as right now we have over a foot of snow on the main road here and its not stopped snowing yet

The 6 quid ryanair charge was just the icing on the cake to a really bad day

But hey as long as you get to belittle people behind the safety of your pc screen - all is ok right ?

    Merry Christmas to you
  • I'm so sorry suki1964, I hope he gets home safe soon x
