In my opinion the RM need to get with the times, they should COLLECT as well as deliver - you heard it here first.

That's what I was thinking too. I didn't buy it though. I walked 10 minutes to the post office in deep snow instead.

I'm sure "corner shops" can charge what they wan't, but post offices can't.
There isn't a face value as such on the stamp (just 1st class etc.). It's value can change as it will in April.
Stamps have been sold for ages now ay more than their value - ebay is just one example.
Whether you want to pay more than the going rate depends on the convenience, but corner shops probably would make less than the post office per stamp and will price according to their mark-up.
Lots of corener shops now have post office counters inside them now, so obviously not an issue.

This one didn't have a post office counter in it. I think they had just bought a book of stamps from "genuine stamp retailer" to resell in their shop.

Dont blame RM blame the previous Labour government and the crazy ofcom quango who set up rules that has destroyed royal mail.
The reason why stamps are increasing its calleed SUBSIDISING.

The general public are subsidising the new compeditors who pay RM what is called the last mile which is 7p.
so the rival firm goes to a big bank who wants to send out 10 million changes in T&C's and charge them 18p.
they collect the mail drive a few miles and dump it at the Midlands distribution centre at daventry for their 11p. RM then has to deliver the items to anywhere in the country for 7p.
nearly 2 billion items a day are passed to RM for the last half mile price of 7p.
This governmet will sell the profit making YES profit making letters division and keep the P.O counters which loses millions of pounds a day, the new buyer will asset strip the company by selling high value properties in town centre's especialy in london worth hundreds of millions and then hand it back to the us in ruins.
They should take a leaf from the USPS and use mobile trailers and park them in places like tescos, asda etc so you can do two things in one visit.
also a lot of what royal mail are saying is stretching the truth with smoke and mirrors.

I'm sorry.I'd be more sympathetic towards an above rpi increase in postal charges if it meant that I could rely on the British postal service to guaranteee next working day delivery on my mail if its sent first class.
I'm losing count of the amount of post which I've not received in the last few months which has simply disappeared in transit.It's now at a point where I have to ask anybody sending anything important to send it recorded so I have at least a fighting chance of receiving it.And don't get me started about the current post delays- its not since the latest bout of wintry weather- my local sorting office tell me that they have a 4 week backlog which they can't cope with!

they never did and recorded makes no difference
