hopefully it will go some way to plug the black hole in RM pension deficit rather than the staff who seem to take industrial action at the drop of a hat!

but I fear the taxpayer will be the ones hit....the sooner RM goes into private hands the better and the posties can come and join us in the real world.

It can be a grabbit, you just need to buy lots of stamps with 1st or 2nd class on them, even if the price goes up RM honour it.

RM will honour it but no guarantees that a new owner of RM will.

During this xmas period I've been finding 2nd class just as quick(or slow) as 1st class. Received 2 cards on same day - both posted from same location , one had 1st the other had 2nd class stamp.

I think the staff have to expect cuts in this reccessionary erabut maybe it is time that management experienced reductions in their paypackets and bonuses too. We are all supposed to be in this together but those at the top appear to be getting a pass.
If that was the case then maybe the Royal mail would not be losing so much money per letter.

The ones at the top want to come into the real world, no need for them to take action at the drop of a hat.
£1m+ for running a loss making company - makes sense to me.

When the posties and those at the bottom have a decent standard of living (all other sectors as well), then I can see the argument against taking action - miles and miles away from that though. How much will those at the top take from this 12%+ increase in prices??

Who are they that are on £1m + salaries? Brydon (Chairman) and Green (CEO) are both reported to be on substantially less than that?

those that are swinging the lead from the top down will not last long under privatisation...

the problem is, it is us the taxpayer that will be paying for their pensions

I thought it was only Brydons "part-time" job??
He used to be on £200k (+ bonuses no doubt) for working a 2 day week. His "other" job was a lot more - better than having 2 (or even 3) cleaning jobs/bar jobs etc. - for those in the real, real world.

No sorry, I haven't got access to their wage packets and I've no doubt they won't be shouting from the roof-tops what they are earning - but ther was an uproar when Mr Bryson was allegedly reported as getting £200k for 2 days work per week.
Who does have the "true" facts??
Who can supply them??
How much do you think the top bosses at RM earn (with bonuses)??
Is it a fair reflection on what the "workers" get??

What I "do" know though, is that millions would be willing do his job (even job share with him) and get the same result - run the company at a loss.

But that's all politics.
