positioning a new wall hung tv?

the installers are overdue and i have no idea how high to position my new tv--also there is a airconditioning unit in the proximity--7ft off the ground- the ideal position i would like it is just underneath and to the right but not sure how it will effect tv??--we just use the ac for cold air in summer not on heat setting.

Cut out a piece of card about the size of your new TV and stick it on the wall, sit down in your favorite TV viewing chair and see if its a comfortable viewing position, and move it till you get one.
Too high and you will get neck ache.

PS If your aircon unit drips you would be in trouble sticking a TV beneath it.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

it would only leak if there was a major fault but worth bearing in mind--i was more worried about these sensitive tv screens getting 'altered by cold air or by any emf that a ac puts out--i would guess the right height is the height i have my tv now but in the showrooms they seem to put them at quite varied heights--we tend to lie down and watch the tv so i expect the current tv is at the wrong height!-probably be best on the ceiling lol

Put the TV in the corner of the room where it`s supposed to go.
These tv`s may look good hung on the wall of a pub so everyone can see them but look ridiculous hanging on the wall of your lounge.

If you do insist it goes on the wall here`s a link for something you`ll need very soon.

my sofa is at right angles to the corner--the wall is parralel and opposite to my sofa so being on the wall is a healthier option i sense--i have chose a very slim tv and was considering somekind of ornamental covering when not in use because where i live electricial things get very dusty--Turkey

The ac will not affect the tv, but be careful not to impede the air flow from ac unit. Place it wherever you feel comfortable viewing. Obviously you will need to consider proximity to TV point and electrical outlet.

It is a very easy DIY job.

Got to agree with 2010 TVs on the walls are hideous looking. My mate has one got one on the wall and i get a really sore neck watching it. They are not at a correct viewing angle. Mirrors and pictures are for walls not stupid 42in TVs. GET IT IN THE CORNER!:D

its on the wall and looks good! the installers let me assume the viewing position and adjusted it to my comfort--i dont see how less inconspicious a tv in the corner is to one on the wall--i have a thumping big ac on the wall and people admire it!!--i dont live near any chavs here in Turkey where acs are status lol---the reason i need a big tv is i have vision blur that cant be corrected with glasses and i need a big screen to see lettering--i have glaucoma coming!

Footballing chav here , my 50 inch is on the wall , if I had it in the corner might as well kept the CRT.
Its positioned 70cms off the ground and we sit 17 feet from the screen.

So get the height right , tv suitable for the room and enjoy !
  • At the end of the day its totally up to you de1amo if your happy with it then thats the main thing.
