For very many of these employees and temps this is the one day rate is at a premium and welcomed. I for one am happy to support this custom and spend on these days, and I know Im not alone. Keep the custom going.

As much as I like a sale, I think its sad that as a society we can't have 2 whole days of the shops being shut...people eat, drink and receive loads of gifts on Christmas Day I haven't ever understood the immediate need to then go to next at 4am and queue for a cheap jumper. But each to their own!

Lol- come live in my family for Christmas day, we have an ongoing family feud no one wants to talk about (but mentions from time to time) we have an (ex?-)anorexic who will sit and attempt Xmas dinner (er, thats me) much to the irritation of everyone else will refuse everything with even remote amounts of "bad" stuff in them, another who refuses to spend anything like as much as what she gets back and then goes on 3 holidays a year, expects free childcare and goes off without so much as a postcard, a marter who will let you know all about it, an addict to computer games who will only break for Xmas dinner...and then straight back to the games, a cook who we all know will have dinner on the table...3 hours late every year despite the anxiety of one guest who will end up late for work as a direct result and guests to pretend everything is all 'hunky dory' for!

Yes, I do genuinly love my family- no really I do. I love my Christmas day and the antiquated ways they work, but more then one day? I think I'd go spare and I think everyone else would do too!

I think it would be great for some families, but IME not for most, families are rarely totally honest with each other, grudges remain and many of them tend to come out at the wring times and in the wrong places when normally concerning alcohol:rotfl:.
  • hope the matalan sale is xmas eve been in today and the gifts and toys are half price, and there seems to bit stuff with highlighted tags, few things would be good a presents but will they do live early or stick to there guns and wait till boxing day ?

Boots store - 26th December 11am (10:30am browsing) dependant on local store Sunday times.

Is this the definite start date for sale at Boots on-line?

    Thanks OP.
OK I know this is the grabbit forum but I am shocked that all these shops open on Boxing day. Crikey can't they stay shut for two days and not put pressure on staff to come in.
I assume a lot of staff will have to work Christmas Day to put sale tags on etc.

or they would stay behind on xmas eve to do it and/or come in early boxing day to get it done

You don't have to queue at 4am, most of the stores open at 12pm this year :D:rotfl:

    Boots store - 26th December

Question is do we go for 50% in the December sale or hang on and hope for something worth picking up in the 75% mid January sale
