buyers are always in a hurry to get their packages and they now know they have the upper hand over sellers.
Rightfully so without buyers there would be no sellers. Buyers aren't an inconvenience they are the people who give us the money.

I can't see anyone saying buyers are an inconvenience.
Under normal circumstances a buyer waiting 11 days would be fair enough. The trouble is we are at a panicky time of year, with rare weather conditions.

I fear the press are winding people up a bit with stories of kiddies with no toys on Christmas morning. 90% of the country is managing perfectly OK, yet to read some of the headlines you would think we were in some sort of ice age with no access to clean water or basic food let alone Christmas presents.

After a week I tend to make first contact with the seller. I wouldn't wait that long without some form of contact.

The only reason I waited three weeks this time was because of the snow.

I think that you have no understanding whatsoever of those people who are suffering from the snow. So if 90% of the country is OK that is fine is it. Alot of people around here have no heating oil, with no chance of getting any to late Jan/Feb. Also water is a big problem as unlike in citys or big towns people here have to have their own water supply. In fact food is an issue for alot of people. There are lots of elderly people here with no transport, the only shop is not getting any food supplies in, but I expect that is not a problem because the other 90% are fine.

There are some who are genuinely suffering in these conditions but they are in the minority and many of those should be prepared for it, it happens every year. Our local heating oil supplier will come out in a 4x4 with 20l drums for regular customers who are desperate, but surely they should have topped up before now. The press are making a mountain out of a molehill, last week Scotland ground to a halt, NO, Glasgow ground to a halt. Us further north just got on with it and carried on as normal whilst the central belt just whined.

You misundestand. If I pick up a paper that tells me that it is dire, we all need to panic and stock pile as this is a major catastrophe for the whole country- then when I look out my window and see no problems at all I dismiss it as fantasy.

Surely it would be better to have a truthful account, be honest say that a small percentage of the country is affected and in those areas it is doom and gloom. That means that those of us with no problems can appreciate how lucky we are and give those affected some leeway with delivery times etc.

As it stands there is nothing at all to make us trust what newspapers tell us if they pretend we are all affected so there may well be people who have no sympathy as they can't see a scrap of snow for themselves.

I think you will find it was the full central belt taking in the majority of the population of Scotland. People were stuck on the motorway overnight in freezing temperatures and it was taking 4hrs to drive 3 or 4 miles. There definitely was a mountain not a molehill.
  • ebay is full of fraudster bidders, so if you send anything worth £20 plus i tend to send recorded, as paypal will always favour the buyer if no tracking reference can be supplied to the dispute process.

In theory if you receive a package purchased from ebay with no tracking reference stickers etc, you can claim for the loss.

I posted some trainers a year ago on the friday, sold on the wednesday and paid for on thursday, at the weekend this seller was banned from ebay, but come monday morning he filed a dispute, (i stupidly hadn't posted recorded) and told paypal this, the buyer was instantly refunded.
I was well annoyed and after several calls to ebay/paypal they said if i don't post with tracking i lose out, i said that royal mail will not take claims for losses for at least 15 days, so how can paypal accept its gone missing in the post it had only been a few days.

You should refund and learn from this
  • If they are willing you could ask them politely if they would mind hanging on a few more days to see if it arrives. If they are unwilling though you need to refund before the open a dispute. I currently have 3 parcels posted around the same time 'missing' i wonder if there is some sort of backlog from parcels posted around that time? I have plenty on items that have only taken a few days recently but its around that date that seems to be causing a problem. :(
