looneyleo wrote:Can anyone help... I think I'm being ripped off! I entered the BCA book club competition through PB for a £250.00 book prize. I have now received a book from BCA saying I have asked to become a member and must pay 99p for the book, buy so many books from them etc etc etc. tried to phone on an 0870 number but they just don't answer the phone...can't see on T & C's how to get out of this without buying the minimum number of books. I'm sure I didn't ask to join when I entered the competition. Can anyone help???
Hi, seem to be having a similar problem, book turned up on Monday, went onto their web site and emailed them got an email back with this number 0870 165 0264, (if helpful - haven't tried it yet) typical though its an 0870 number, all I managed to gather from all the info sent is that i would have to pay postage for having it sent and for sending it back if don't want it, mad.
Trouble is with that book club that the books aren't really that cheap, and their aren't any titles i'm interested in.
let me know how you get on, sure we're not the only ones.0 -

Same happened to me last week but I gave it back to the courier as I knew I hadn't ordered it.

I've just received 2 parcel from 2 bookclubs through the door and have NO idea where they came from - I HATE bookclubs and would never knowingly sign up to them, must look into the return label as I hate the idea of paying to return something I didn't order!Jo x2007:£5181.09 2008: £6619.70 2009: £4284.49 2010: £5213.14 2011: £4980.62 2012: £3188.52

If only I had been there when the courier delivered. Well I say delivered...he must have jumped over my six foot locked gate to put it at the side of my wheelie bin! Either that or he just threw it!
I was sure it wouldn't be just me...that's three of us so far!0 -
Are you registered with the Mailing Preference Service? Does anyone know whether registration with MPS also stops unsolicited addressed packages (not just letters)?'Into every abyss I still bear the blessing of my affirmation' (Friedrich Nietzsche)0

I sent some off (one each for the 3 kiddies) a couple of weeks ago - the kids loved colouring them and are looking forward to seeing if they 'win'

I am registered with MPS, but this has come directly from answering the PB quiz question I'm sure.0 -
Hope I won't get the book - like I said earlier, I didn't join BCA, but I did enter the PB competition. I've had a bad experience with a book club, and I never want to go through this again. PB will never convince me to join one of these - I really don't care how many points they offer, I'll just never do that.
Good luck, and please keep us posted.'Into every abyss I still bear the blessing of my affirmation' (Friedrich Nietzsche)0
