PAC code - Three to Orange

Hi -

I'm sure this has been asked plenty of times before, so sorry in advance.

I currently am coming to the end of my three contract and have already purchased an orange contract and new phone.

I received my PAC code from three, and have given it to orange. They advised me that it would take a couple of days for the number to switch over and that I would receive some texts on my new orange phone when the process was complete.

I woke up this morning and found the message from orange on my old three phone.

I switched both of the phones off and on, and even tried swapping sim cars, but now i am left with the old three phone still saying '3' in the service area, and my orange phone now has no service.

do i just need to wait it out a couple more days before i can use my new orange phone or was there a mistake somewhere? Originally I was told everything would be done on the Saturday-Sunday and was planning on turning both phones off! I'd rather not have to carry around two phones with me, plus my work mobile!

Cheers.

Once you get the text message telling you that its swapped, the transfer should be completed. Have you tried ringing the number and seeing which one rings, just to be sure? If it still hasnt worked, I'd get back in contact with the networks about it

    The three phone is rining.

The orange phone used to have service, and I used to be able to use my new orange number and the internet through ornage, but now the orange one has no service at all. I am getting a message saying that 'Your SIM card does not allow a connection to this network" and I can't connect to the internet through it any more (although I can still use the wi-fi).

To give proper advice, you need to say when you gave Orange the PAC. Normally the porting day is two working days later.

What should happen on the day of the actual port is that both SIMs go off. Not necessarily at the same time.
Some time later the new SIM will come back to life and services will be gradually enabled over the course of a few hours. Do not be tempted to try things out, other than periodically turn the new SIM/PHONE off and on. Don't go swapping SIMs or making test calls.
Three will tell Orange when the port is complete and Orange will text you. Its normal for there to be a few issues (especially with texts) for up to 24 hours.

If you get to the end of the porting day and the process hasn't started, then call Orange.

    cheers.

i think it has sorted itself out now though...

i came out of my xmas lunch, looked at my three phone and noticed that there was no 3 in the corner, and i couldnt make any calls.

took out the orange phone, looked at it, and saw it said orange again. and, i had a missed call and a new text message i hadn't seen before!

funnily enough, when i checked my text messages, it included some old ones, including the pac code i originally received in november!

I wasnt expecting anything to happen until sunday as I only gave them the pac code on Wednesday, so I was just confused as to why it happened today!

If you gave them the code on Wednesday then the port should take place on Friday (today) so it looks like everything went exactly as it should. (you even had some strange goings on with texts as I predicted). Glad its up and running.

it takes 2 days to switch numbers so giving them it on wednesday means that your switchover day was today.

so you shoud have expected the phones to be funny today, personally I have always made sure the switching phones are turned off all day on transfer day, and only switch them back on after 5pm when it should be all sorted.
