    Hi Everyone

Well - went back to Barnado's, the suit was still there so obviously meant to be. So, Bronnie, took your advice and bought it.:D

Also bought some essential oils, rose, sandalwood and some sweet almond carrier oil. Will get cracking this weekend mixing up some more potions - eye of toad etc:rotfl:

Good morning in Scope - no treasures this week. Perhaps as well - what with the suit, the oils, my new shirt and Monday's skirt, and the Sainsbury's haul I think I've spent more than enough for this week (and the next).

BTW love your maxi dress - what a bargain. I'm really pleased maxi dresses are back in vogue - ah takes me back to my youth!!! Great for summer to cover up less than perfect legs too.

The suit I bought has a long skirt too. It's caramel coloured heavy linen/gaberdine so quite versatile. Spring/Summer with sandals, autumn/winter with boots and a good topcoat. Perfick - just need to make sure I lose enough weight. I will do it.

Anyway off for a little nap, then tackle the ironing.

Have a good weekend - hope you enjoy your respective camping and Blackpool trips.

Your musical camping trip sounds great Mrs W - would love to "do" some music festivals - alas OH not well enough. Never mind.

    Bye for now x

    People can be so kind

Thought I'd share this with you. When the news is full of doom and gloom it sometimes helps to remember that life is good and people are, in general, lovely. It's only the minority who are horrible.

What bought this on? Well today I've decided to tackle the dining-room ceiling - just done the base coat and needing a rest now. Carer 1 has taken OH to the park to enjoy the sun and get away from the paint.

Whilst this is going on my lovely neighbour from across the way has mowed my lawn for me. Wasn't that kind and generous. He said it was nothing, he was doing his anyway, but I just thought it was such a lovely neighbourly thing to do. I didn't ask him or even hint:rotfl:

Anyway I'm going to sit in the garden with a cup of tea and a magazine (from the library of course) and have a little rest whilst the first coat of paint dries. Hopefully in an hour or so it will be dry enough for me to do a second coat. Will need some paracetamol and to smother my achey bits in Voltarol to keep going.:o

Going to have a big push and try and get the walls done before Easter, so I can put the room back to rights before the Bank Holidays. The glossing can wait until after the breaks.

Todays exercise? The painting will be quite enough I think!!
Todays beauty treatment - trying to wash the paint out of my hair and a deep cleansing face pack to get the paint and gunge off my face.

A long soak in the bath will be heaven.:)

Have a lovely day - it's glorious here.

    Hi everyone,
    What a glorious day.
I have just returned from the market, having loaded up with fruit (I think I saw something on TV that up to four apples a day can help lower cholesterol) and vegetables. That a lot of apples but then I am very fond of fruit! Then O/H and I sat and watched the world go by as we drank our coffee.
Mrs Wolfe, sorry you are getting crass remarks from a 'friend' Maybe the next time this happens a very loud comment in front of your other friends may shock him into realising these comments are upsetting you.
I used to work with a lot of men and most of them were gentlemen, some used to wind up (non offensive) some of the girls, but ignoring these comments usually stopped it continuing, but then you get the ones that want to take it a step further  when one of these 'men' touched me inappropriately I turned on him and said in a loud voice ' that will be the first and last time you touch me'. He was so shocked he apologised to me.
The husbands of a couple of friends of mine are always making risque remarks to women friends (even in front of their wives) and yet if any woman took them seriously these men would run a mile. This can get very boring and a quick put down usually works but, only for a short time because it is just they way they are and nothing will change this kind of person. I hope you will find a way around this problem Mrs Wolfe?
Enjoy your camping trip it sounds like fun and I hope the weather keeps good for you.

LL, lovely bargain you found, it must have had your name on it Per Una :rotfl::rotfl: and I'm sure you will soon fit into it.
Well done with your weight lose, keep up the good work.
You seem to be getting plenty of exercise with your decorating, lots of stretching, mind your neck with looking at the ceiling!
The sunshine always shows the dull area's, my windows are a winter opaque at the moment :o on my list for Monday:p
Feeling very tired (bad night) going to have a power nap.

:wave:Maman, dare you to have a go on the Big One

 Bronnie, nice dress, I have never had the confidence to wear a sleeveless dress.

Sorry for spelling and bad grammer, I never read back on my posts ;)

    Bon weekend.

    Hi Everyone

Hi Wmf - Welcome to SSS. It's good to "meet" another lurker. Glad you are enjoying reading and well done on the eyebrows and slathering your feet. Don't forget your elbows and knees too - ready for those summer clothes. Moi a slave driver?!!! Heaven forbid.;)

Hi Carmen - sorry to hear you are not sleeping too well. I did notice that one of your posts was in the middle of the night. It's no fun when you can't sleep. Hope things improve soon.

You were so right about my neck and painting the ceiling. I knew it would hurt but I was determined to do it anyway. Anyway it's done now, had a rest from painting today - have just masking-taped everywhere and prepped ready for tomorrow, ready to start the walls.

Am just looking out the window as I write and there's a lovely big summer moon up there smiling down on me. Hope it means that the weather is settled for a while yet. It's been another lovely day here - it can stay like that as long as it likes. October would be good.

Pottered about in the garden, weeding tidying up, lunch al fresco. Wonderful.

Beauty treatment wise - lots and lots of slathering and a bit of gentle sunning myself. Put on a skimpy top to get some sun on my back and arms.

Had a bit of a rummage to try and find some shorts (only wear them on the beach or in the garden). Don't appear to have any so will need to buy a cheap pair for now. Bound to rain.:o

Didn't get round to making any potions yet - hopefully soon - although next week is looking really busy especially if I am going to get the dining room painted by the weekend.

Still a bit remiss on the exercise front - hopefully the decorating and gardening go some way to making up the deficiency. Will get back on track soon. There just don't seem to be enough hours in the day - and then when I do have a few moments - I'm just too shattered.

Hopefully once the main thrust of the decorating is done I'll get back to it. Also some serious pampering will be called for.:rotfl:

    G'night all x

    Morning all!

Hope you all had good weekends- well done LL on getting that ceiling done! I think that's more than enough exercise!

It's is lovely isn't it when someone surprises you and does something nice? I always think that the kindness of strangers is one of the lovliest things, somehow when it comes from somewhere unexpected it always give me a little lift...but then I'm soppy like that!:D

Pleased to report that the weekend was a great sucess- and the real shocker it that there was not a peep out of Mr Inappropriate, I actually think that what C said to him last week may well have sunk in a little- he was back to his usual self- I mean how he used to be with me- still lots of smutty jokes etc- that's just the way he is but nothing aimed at me or anyone else- it was really pleasant and we had a few nice chats, I'm feeling a hell of a lot better about things- I know if it crops up again I'll need to nip it in the bud asap but overall much improved.

We had a fabulous weekend's camping..although it was really more Glamping really, really lucky with the weather, lots of games and music and laughing. The only downside for me was I was a bit silly and didn't stick to my normal routine foodwise- just grazed on bits and bobs a lot- nothing too bad but it meant I really didn't eat enough and I hadn't thought ahead enough to make sure that I was still getting plenty of seeds/grains my own silly fault but my goodness did I feel the difference!!! that'll teach me for next time!!!

Also wasn't too far from the in-laws and popped in to say hello after- glad we did DH's niece (2 1/2 yrs old) had been asking for us for a couple of days (and most of the morning) and got super-excited and came running out of the house when she saw us...she's such a cutie she had put all of her favourite toys in a line waiting so she could show us each one and introduce her uncle W to Panda- too cute! DH is only just getting past the "little people freak me out stage" it's funny to watch him cornered by our nieces:D next weekend promises to be amusing as we'll be seeing both nieces over the weekend so he'll be drinking lots of pretend cups of tea lol!

am having a slight clothing crisis as things are not fitting anymore but I'm not quite at the next size down anymore...I'm forever pulling my jeans up even with belts:o may have to pop in to Matalan/Asda or something and get a couple of bits to tide me over- like you guys were saying earlier- I find that for a long time I've only wanted to buy "cheap" clothing mainly because I didn't like the size I was and was forever telling myself that I'd buy something nicer "when I lost the weight"....hopefully that time is getting a bit closer now...I've been eyeing up some pretty dresses in fifties/forties cuts I have this one:

    http://www.rockabillypinup.co.uk/sweetheart-polka-swing-dress-hell-bunny-p-322.html

and absolutely love it, can be worn without the petticoat to for a less "dressed up" look and I love wearing it, the cut is just really flattering for my body shape...so I'm planning on treating myself to a few pretty dresses in a similar style over the summer...fingers crossed!

not sure how much exercise I'll get done today - all the washing/some of the unpacking from the weekend will need to be done tonight. Had a long soak last night and deep conditioned my hair but would like to do a little facial today- only problem with camping- doesn't do your skin a hell of a lot of good!

Anyway ladies (and lurkers!) hope you are all having a lovely day and I look forward to catching up soon!

    Good morning everyone,
Wmf, welcome to the group, look forward to hearing about your ab fab journey and any useful tips.
I have been having a go at threading my eybrows  not very successful because I need to wear my glasses which makes it very awkward :rotfl:
Today is is set aside for catching up on spring cleaning and sowing some seeds. I think that can be classed as my exercise also ;)

Mrs W, I love that dress, my eldest sister wore that style when she went dancing, she was a great jiver I could watch her for hours, unfortunately I never got the hang of it

LL and Maman  I hope all is well with you and yours?
A few of us are going out for the day tomorrow so I am just popping out for bits and pieces for a picnic.
    Take care all

    Hi Everyone

Glad your weekend went well Mrs W and that Mr Inappropriate was on his best behaviour. You had fab weather too. Glamping sounds good. I fancy staying in a yurt but don't think OH could manage camping now.

Love the dress, so pretty and feminine. I used to wear what we called can-can underskirts when I was about 9 or 10. Gawd I'm getting old. I used to love the way they "swished" when you walked.

Like you Carmen I was never able to jive. I think you have to be just the right age when a dance craze hits. Unless it's the macarena - we got my dad doing it at a family do recently and he's in his 80's - after a few whiskies.

I recently watched a TV programme - 50 best dance crazes. It was a fabulous trip down memory lane - me and OH were chair dancing like mad things. Remember hand jiving - my sister and I still do this when we're having a silly five minutes and I love a prance around the kitchen pretending to be Madonna or Tina Turner. All in the name of exercise you understand.:rotfl:

    Must tell you this.

My niece is 10. Her year had to do something for school assembly around the theme of "Creativity". Well each child had to do or show something - some held up a picture, some wrote a poem. My niece loves to dance and sing - quite the little thespian. She put on a CD and sang and danced to Wuthering Heights a la Kate Bush. She was perfect - all the moves - all the notes, playing the fool. Her "audience" was in hysterics, even the Head Teacher had tears of laughter streaming down her face. I wonder where she gets it from.:rotfl:

When Maman said my new wardrobe sounded bohemian I meant to tell you that quite often my BIL will say that my chosen outfit looks very "Stevie Nicks" (Fleetwood Mac). He has a bit of a thing about her - so I always take it as a compliment:D

One of the joys of no longer working in the corporate world is the freedom to not have to wear corporate dress - black or navy suits, sensible shoes. It's nice to be able to dress exactly how I please.

I'm sure you'll know this one Maman - it's a poem - something along the lines of "When I'm old I shall wear purple" - damned if I can remember who wrote it and what it's called.

Anyway - very busy day - two coats of "cutting-in" and one coat of roller to dining room, plus a meeting with SS re "How to pay wages to carers" etc. What a performance!!! Just one more coat of the roller to go.

Bit stiff and sore after all that painting but hardly surprising - it'll be worth it. With a bit of luck all this work should help with WW too.:D

Hope you are all well and keeping up the good work.

This is the poem you wanted LL, not sure I want to get fat stuffing sausages but I do appreciate the sentiments!

I've had a quick flick through the weekend's posts so hope I haven't missed too much.

We had a surprisingly good time in Blackpool. Weather was amazing and company was good. Last night we stayed over in Chester on the way back which is a lovely place. Unfortunately a lot of eating and drinking were involved so I've probably put on pounds but I'll get back on plan for a couple of days then off we go again! It's so difficult to stick to a plan when eating out plus if people go to the trouble of preparing, say a cream tea:eek:, then it would be rude to say no:o

Only problem was my BIL insisted on driving this weekend, said his car needed a good run. His driving is absolutely atrocious and as I'm the world's worst passenger ( I can't stand not being in control) it was pretty stressful. I was actually pleased on the M6 on Friday when the traffic was dreadful and we had to crawl along in queues!

    Catch you all soon.

    Hi Everyone

Just a quickie, feeling really tired. Very busy day.

Took OH to see his consultant this morning - miles of hospital corridors again. For the last couple of days OH has been asking "How long" etc (ie have I got). So difficult. He asked the consultant but given that we don't have a definitive diagnosis - just a vague "degenerative neurological condition/cerebellar ataxia" there is no answer to that one.

Finished dining room walls:j Still need to do glossing to lounge and d/room but that can wait until after the bank hols. Need a break and the house needs a jolly good clean, stuff everywhere. Not sure if DS1 coming home this weekend - will need to dejunk his room if he is. Poor lad won't be able to get to his bed otherwise.

Hope you had nice day out Carmen, perfect weather for a picnic.

Thanks for the poem, Maman - that's the one. I'll skip the sausages too.;)

Try not to worry about your SW - I'm sure you'll soon lose those extra lbs quickly. I'm not sure how I'm doing with WW this week. I've tried to be reasonable but I've not really weighed stuff and counted points - just too busy and tired with all the painting. Maybe I've been able to work some of the calories off. If not, then at least I've finished now so can concentrate a bit more on getting the eating right.

I really need to shop for more fruit, veg and healthy nibbles. Tried ALDI today but the fruit and veg looked a bit grim - usually very good.

Glad you had a good time in Blackpool, know what you mean about struggling as a passenger. I think it's one of the down sides of being a driver. I always want to "brake" at junctions etc when I'm a passenger:rotfl:

Beautywise - Just had a long soak to ease my aches and pains, followed by a good slathering. Going to try and book a hair appointment, and a couple of salon treatments for after Easter. I think I've earned some pampering.:D

    G'night all.
