Another 1lb lost this week so I'm a happy bunny:). Ladies at SW were laughing at me because I insist on wearing much the same clothes every week - I call them my 'weigh-in' clothes. As a result the trousers are hanging off me:rotfl:It's such a good feeling though.
Raining horribly here today so I won't be having my walk. I've been keeping up with my reading and knitting and, of course, have been very good with my meal planning.
Must do something constructive this afternoon, maybe another cupboard will get sorted!0 -
Hi everyone - thanks for the well-wishes. Feel a bit better today.
Have just done 2kms on bike then starting coughing again, so I'll have a little rest whilst I post this and try a bit more. Maybe just a few physio stretches today rather than a full workout. A little is better than nothing.
Well done on the weight loss Maman, it's nice when you can see your progress.
A little bit of sunshine here today, although quite a cold wind. Had a stroll round my garden. Lovely to see the bulbs peeking through and the shrubs starting to bud. I've even got a few vegetables left to pick.
Remember the Elephant
This is one an old boss taught me years ago. It's for when you feel overwhelmed when faced by a seemingly impossible task. It goes like this:-
Could you eat an elephant?
No.
You could if you cut it up into portions and freeze them, taking out a small portion each day. OK you probably get fed up with eating elephant, but you can take the odd day off. Eventually, if you keep going, you will eat an elephant.
Today's portion of elephant is a little bit of exercise and a nice long soak in the bath.
Carmen - Hope your OH is getting over his 'flu, hope he doesn't pass it to you. PS My teeth are still giving me gyp, even though I've been to the dentist  Hopefully they'll settle down in a day or two.0 -
Managed 5kms on bike in the end, plus a few stretches.
Feel quite pleased. 'Night everyone.0 -
Sweet dreams. I walked half an hour downhill to an appointment which got cancelled. Then three quarters of an hour uphill in the rain. So I should sleep well.:heartsmil When you find people who not only tolerate your quirks but celebrate them with glad cries of "Me too!" be sure to cherish them. Because these weirdos are your true family.0

Good evening everyone,
Hugs to all you poorly one's
Congrats to the weight losses
Although I have not got any fluey symptoms, I do really out of sorts:( I have been making do again with my food intake, probably could have eaten that whole elephant LL :rotfl:why do I eat more when I feel under the weather? So I am dreading my weigh in! Never mind, I new it's wasn't going to be easy
Feeling too grotty to go to the dentist LL, will try next week.
Gawd! Sorry for such a depressing post.
Chin up
Carmen x
PS. WW, you will soon be doing the uphill journey in half an hour0 -
Sorry to hear you're feeling rough too, Carmen.
I had a cold back early last month so seem to have got it out of the way before this latest lurgy struck.
Been a so-so day today: ate according to healthy meal plan, did my reading (two days worth) and did weekly shop. Sadly no exercise and no decluttering. Will definitely have a walk tomorrow, at least.0 -
Another off day - still feeling grotty
- just a few yoga stretches so I don't seize up completely.
Well - we all seem to be struggling a bit don't we. There are lots of lurgies and bugs around - it's not surprising we're dropping like flies. I'm definitely going to have to go back to the dentist
Never mind, let's just keep going.
Watched that programme about losing weight that was on BBC1 last night - all about the science involved. Quite interesting - it seems we're on the right track - smaller portions, exercise, taking it slowly and steadily, tweaking things here and there.
Will definitely introduce more protein into my diet - carbs such as bread, pasta etc don't really suit my digestive system anyway - I really should leave them alone. I really don't like the idea of leaving out whole food groups though - I will look at some of the wheat free flours etc and try making my own bread and (the occasional) cake
Snow here today so had to postpone half the stuff I wanted to do - rain has washed it away now.0 -
:hello:LL
Sorry to hear you're still feeling poorly.
I watched that programme too. I was particularly pleased to learn that effects of exercise go on for many hours of fat burning! I've always felt that the measly number of stated calories exercise burns off are hardly worth it so that helps put things in perspective. Also, delighted to see the chicken dinner was as 'good' calorie-wise as 1.5 little pork pies. And to think, when I was working, I'd think nothing of stopping at a petrol station and eating two of those:eek:
Sleep well.0 -
Here Comes the Sun
Today (8th Jan) the sun returns to the northern hemisphere, depending on weather conditions we should get nearly 20 minutes extra daylight today. (Nice and sunny here but very cold). From now on the days get lighter. Roll on Spring.
Feeling much brighter today, already done 2.5kms on bike and some yoga, decluttered a couple of drawers. Checked finances and doing better than I'd hoped so, all in all, nice and positive today, although sad to say OH not too good.
Todays treatments - depilation and a deep cleansing clay facepack.
Clay Face Masks
Clay masks are really good for deep cleansing and refining congested and open pores.
I make up my own from supplies I get from the beauty product wholesalers, but I'm sure you could get the ingredients from a chemist - although you probably have to order them. They work out really cheap (just a few pence per mask) if you can buy the clay powders and mix them yourself. Or, failing that you can buy clay masks relatively cheaply. I use to buy the Mudd ones before I trained as a therapist.
For oilyskin/open pores/blackheads
Use 1 tsp fullers earth, 1 tsp kaolin powder - mixed with witch hazel
For dry skin/angry/sensitive or mature skin
mix 2 tsps of calamine powder with rose water or glycerin or almond oil
(If you use glycerin or almond oil the mixture will remain soft and not dry and harden on the skin, so very good for sensitive skin)
Note If you have nut allergies don't use almond oil.
For combination skin - mix and match as you need
For acnefied skin - especially where pustules and papules are present (red angry spots and inflamed skin)
2 tsp flowers of sulphur with witch hazel
Note Flowers of sulphur is orangy in colour and can stain so take care take to avoid eyebrows and hairline. :eek:0 -
Oh my! I have put on 2lbs  Why am I surprised after all the 'easy' food I have been eating over the last week
Never mind, upwards and onwards, it is not a sprint
OH's cough is getting better I managed to sleep until 2.30am so will be getting back to bed soon!
Thanks for the face mask tips LL I will certainly try them.
I remember many moons ago someone put a fullers earth and hydrogen peroxide face mask on me, after a minute or so it started to tingle and I quickly washed it off, I was concerned but after a while wow did my skin look good. I used this recipe for about twenty years until it became harder to buy HP.
It is lovely that the days are drawing out, makes me feel so good.
