I was very concerned for your mental well-being as you did not mention HPC in your first post. But at least you have mentioned them in the second but forgot to include words like evil, possessed of the devil etcTHE_GHOULISH_CODPIECE wrote: »But he is absolutely correct. Especially when he says "owning a home provides a physiological sense of stability, adulthood and independence". This explains the crazies over on HPC, visa vie they are all physiologically damaged.0 -

Apologies I have now amended the offending post to more accurately describe them.0 -
Was that aimed at me? I was expecting a better argument to be fair.
Is that what this thread is about? Reasoned debate?

Why not become a self employed contractor and get the business to pay for rent? (subject to technically living elsewhere)
As if by magic you don't pay tax on it, hence are saying 20-40% a year.
Win win situation for everyone concerned.0 -
i wouldn't have even bothered - the response that you got says it all.Not all landlords have an IO mortgage though, of course. Also not all property prices have fallen in value in recent times so there is no guarantee of getting somewhere at a "hugely reduced" price.
the 'dead money' comment is obviously a sensitive area hence the responses on this thread... it's quality0 -
Ghoulie, are you an astroturf?Long live the faces of t'wunty.0

'Article Is Dead'
All right-minded intellectuals on here already know this but it seems some people prefer to dredge up stuff from January 2009 in hope of presenting it as new. If you are a young couple or a FTB then please do not listen to the crazies who take two years to discover the out-of-date ramblings of obscure websites.
