Carbon Monoxide poisoning

Call me an anxious mother, but as your student days are often the first time you're living in rented accommodation, please make sure you know the signs of carbon monoxide poisoning. There's a list here - lots of other sites out there, but this one happened to list the symptoms clearly and quickly.
You'll notice that those symptoms may be confused with other student ailments ... ... so please, if you're now out in the privately rented sector and you've got a gas boiler or water heater (perhaps especially a water heater!), think about a carbon monoxide detector! Please?
The moneysaving bit of this is to ask for a student discount if you have to buy one! :rotfl:

That goes for smoke alarms as well. By law all rented accommodation should have them but remember to check the battery isn't flat (if they aren't hard wired).0

Also, there's the cost of birdseed to consider."Peter Pan is 2. Shirley Bassey is 3. Dr Ian Paisley is 4. King Lear is 5. Why?"
"...also known as taking in the Spanish Cub Scout leader. (Cryptic) (5)"
Thanks to MSE, I've seen Citizen Kane, 2001: A Space Odyssey and Serenity for FREE!

|Of course, and all rented accommodation should have a yearly inspection of its gas and electricals by a registered person, and you should have seen the certificate. But a) these are counsels of perfection! b) the carbon monoxide thing is so topical right now that I figured there was a faint chance of some of you actually doing something about it! Mind you I'm still waiting for my son to confirm that he has ...30111987 wrote:That goes for smoke alarms as well.
